My question is, do boards with MagnaTraction have more grip than boards with traditional camber?

Good question.

Personally I don’t think so, it’s a different kind of grip. A firm cambered board with good torsional ridgidity, a well thought out core, sharp edges and cleverly positioned reinforcement, has grip that you can really load up in a carve. Reverse camber boards with Magnetraction do grip well but I think it’s more to compensate for Rockers inherent lack of grip rather than to provide more grip. If you want to rail big long arcing carves there is still no better combination than a directional board with camber, a firm flex and a progressive sidecut that gets tighter as you near the centre of the sidecut. Boards like the Amplid UNW8, Burton Custom X and T7 and Endeavor Board of Directors are boards that grip better than any mag board out there…. in my opinion. Unfortunately these boards are bit of a dying race.

It´s hard to tell. I really feel that my Rossi One Magtek has a hell of a grip compared to my K2 Eldorado and my K2 DarkStar.

Then again. I did buy the Rossi beacuse the base and edges of my Eldorado was worn out. So that is really not fair to compare these two boards. And for the K2 DarkStar. Well. It´s the last modell with camber. But again. It´s a 155 and it´s a bit smal for me (80 kg) so it probably loses some grip there.

So. Magtek has impressed me. But if I, on any given Sunday,  lined up a Rossi One 10/11 by a Burton Custom X 10/11 I don´t know how the result would fall out.

Thanx MagnePagne the Rossi One Magtek 153 or Rossi Dive Magtek 156 is already on my wish-list for next year. I want to try or buy 1 after reading loads of good reviews/comments here on the SBR site.

And from the review of the Custom X on this site I don’t think I want that board. It is a super board but I like to start as early as possible and stay on the piste till the last lift closes.
I don’t know anymore how-it was said in the review but I think the Custom X I will get tired too soon.

Ooooh @%!#@!#&##& I wish I could express myself better English. I can read everything on this site but writing a reply or comment is difficult for me grrrr…
