hey guys

fantastic site, keep up the great work.

I’ve been riding since 95, most of it in ontario unfortunately, I do get to Vermont(usually Jay) twice a year, being the better part of 45 my park days are over. boards that I currently have are a Gnu carbon credit wide 159, which I hate, a morrow spoon re-issue 158 that is a good laugh but pretty much useless and a K2 Amdush 161(its a 2005 that i bought last week still new in the package) I have had it out 3 times and love the hell out of it. I consider myself an advancing intermediate rider.

Here is my dilema.
after researching the hell out of every site on the net I am certain that the Neversummer Raptor is my dream ride(hard carving is my new best friend) I ride the above boards with palmer 20mm risers as my first experience with a wide board was a mid nineties K2 Fatbob which is as much fun to ride as a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood.

I am 6’2”, 215 lbs, I have size 12 feet and ride Northwave Decades with Ride XL spi’s. I need some solid advice to make the right choice. to get the most out of the Raptor should I get it in wide(has technology changed, or will I still hate a wider board). Am I wasting my time with the palmer risers?(I dont mind them at all). What is the best length for me ?

Thanks in advce, looking forward to your input.

I can understand you concerns… but the Fat Bob was renowned for being a plank, fat doesn’t even get close to describing it. The Waist on the 162 was 27.3cm!

Firstly, looking at the Raptor X, what size are you looking at, the 165? Also you’re big into your carving, what angles do you use and how wide is your stance? My inital thoughts are that the Raptor X would be the best option as a waist of 26.8 would accomodate your feet with minimal overhang, but that’s with fairly freestyle angles +18, -12. The width on the Raptor X at your feet is going to be almost exactly the same as your GNU CCS 159W is that too wide?

Thanks for the reply.
I was initially leaning toward the raptor x 161 as I had read that they seem to ride long, however gaining a half cm at the waist for a 4 cm difference seems like a sensible trade off. I ride duck usually +- 18. My stance width is 23.5 most of the time. The width of my carbon credit is fine, I just am really not fussed on the boards ride, not loving the btx/mtx.I guess what I’m really asking is do the wider versions of modern boards ride exactly the same as the non wide(or is it just another expensive “plank” Eg my fatbob to make large booted riders feel included) .
