Hello,

shortly - I’ve always been riding on crappy board (something like 200$ for board with bindings). Finally after season without so much snow, I’m forced to get new one. Decided to get something decent.

I’m looking for freestyle board (mostly park, may try some pipes, not interested in rails). I’ve been riding snowboard for 10 years now so may say I’m intermediate/advanced.

Although i want something better, have limited funds - was thinking about max 400$ board (or 500$ for board with bindings). Can spend a little more if it’s really worth it but would prefer to fit within that budget :)

A bit of details bout myself:

- I’m goofy in case that’s important
- weight; 92kg (200 lbs)
- height; 1.77m (5.8 ft)
- boot size: eu: 45, us: 11,5

Would appreciate any advices. Basicly i’m not even sure how long my board should be (i was riding at 160cm long one, thought i need a bit shorter for FS, but on the other hand I’m quite heavy so not sure if that would be good choice) I was looking through my local e-bay offers, was reading reviews of boards, but still cant decide. Few boards I was interested in:
ATOMIC Pivot 2010/11
NIDECKER ADICT 2010
BURTON JOYSTICK V-rocker 156 W / 2010
ROSSIGNOL ONE MAG 161 MW 2010
BURTON TWC STANDARD 158W

Haven’t thought about bindigs yet at all :P

Thank you in advance for all advices
best regards
czeslav

I think you’ll need to take the Atomic Pivot off your list. I enjoyed riding it around last March, but it was getting on the soft side for me and you are 20kg heavier than me.

The list you have is pretty good apart from that. I don’t think there’s any need to go too long so you might find the Rossignol Angus 158mW is a better choice than the One 161mW. Another thing to add is that the 2010 One Mag was completely cambered and a pretty stiff board, it was definitely more freeride focused than this year’s. I would also look at the Ride DH2 and Ride Machete if reverse camber boards are of any interest to you… you basically sacrifice a little grip and get a bit more playfullness and float in powder. If the place you ride has hardpack and ice most of the time I would sticjk with camber or look for something with magnetraction or a similar serrated edge system. The Nitro Rook is also a great freestyle board, it has zero camber which gives it a slightly broken-in feel and a touch more float… it’s also a board that consistently gets positive things said about it by our testers and the public in general. It’s a mid wide so it should be able to accomodate your size 11 boots…. but you can check using our boot size checker in the guide sction. Also worth checking out the Rome Machine which is their slightly wider version of the Graft. A nice mid wide deck. I think you are looking at boards in the region of 158 to 160 cm in length and you’ll want a waist width between 25.8 and 26.5 cm. If you can find a little extra money and you want to try a hybrid rocker, be sure to check out the Rome Agent Rocker wide 158.

Thank you for your answer. I started looking into Nitro Rook, and seems like a really great board.

Just got one question: beside freestyle focus, i like to do some freeriding or riding fast on the slopes. Will zero camber be suitable for that as well? Have completly no idea what to expect as I’ve only tried traditional camber boards.

After reading all the reviews and opinions i could find about Nitro Rook, I’ve ordered it :)

Are there any good bindings u would recommend for that board and for that style of riding?

best regards
