Got a Burton Air 165, done me well but laying her down to rest, thinking bout a Bataleon Jam or Goliath 161/164. I’m 186cm 90kg, Also thinking about Burton Custom or Custom x. Want all mountain board, piste, off piste, some jumps, rarely in park. Anybody got one/rode, advice please? Cheers.

Rich just did a video review on the Custom X…  honestly a sweet @ss board but mucho denaro (+++ money).

I have been curious on Bataleon and their TBT tech…  having never been on one I can’t help you in that department.

Another popular one is the Rossignol One Magtek…  check that one out, a lot of value in that board.

If you like carving the Custom X will blow your mind… probably not the best board for learning tricks off jumps but if you want to charge around and boost of rollers, it’s got to be the Custom X, definitely a board in my fantasy board rack (is it a bit sad to have a fantasy board rack? It’s like a poor man’s fantasy supercar garage).

Regarding the Bataleon boards. I find Freestyle and Twin TBT makes the boards a little slower edge-to-edge, however when you are learning kicker spins the TBT makes take-offs, particularly when you carving up a transition for a backside spin much less sketchy. I’d recommend the Goliath if you want to cruise around the mountain and venture into the park, but the Jam is a fair bit stiffer and like the Custom X is designed for riders who are certain they like firm flexing boards.

The Jam also has a sintered base while Goliath is extruded.

The Jam also has a sintered base while Goliath is extruded.

What is the difference between those two bases?

What is the purpose of having one base instead of the other?

Thx.

Sintered base are faster than extruded but need to be waxed often and if not waxed it is slow. Extruded base is lower maintenance, easier to fix if damaged, slower than a waxed sintered base and doesn’t need to be waxed often.
