Every snowboard has a design stance mentioned in the specs. When buying/choosing a snowboard is it important to also consider the design stance?
Or is the riders weight /length/riding preference(freestyle/freeride/...) most important.
The boards that I buy often have a design stance of 56 cm and my preferred stance is 49/50 cm max?

Of course stance width is as important as weight recommendations and board length and waist width.
However, the manufacture usually states the maximum and minimum stance width in the specs. If it only states one stance with I would think that is the centred stance with your bindings mounted to the middle inserts so you should be able to move your stance at least 6 cm inwards by just moving your bindings to the most inward set of inserts.
