I want to get a Lib Tech but unsure which one would be best?
I am 6’2” 13.5 stone (189 lbs), size 10 boot, early intermediate!,
I just want to ride the mountain, few jumps here and there on the way down, not mastered them as yet?
Like to switch and try to do a few tricks (play)
Going 2 weeks to Banff in Feb so powder, also hopefully some where in Europe too (be last minute deal) which will be probably ice and slush!
So unsure which board or size!
Travis Rice C2
Jamie Lynn or Mark Lando pheonix board, can’t really see the difference between them apart from one is Directional twin shape the other Directional shape.

Or maybe someone could give me some pointers on other good boards!
Thanks

Yo Nemis! All of theose boards would sort an intermediate…. I rode the Lando 157mW which was really easy and had plenty of pop and edge hold… the banana rocker makes turn initiation easy peasy and provide nice and forgiving with landings. Your size and weight should prove a problem, but I wouldn’t drop any smaller than a 160… 162 would be perfect… Are your boots ten UK or ten US? If it’s 10 US, you’ll be fine with any width, if they are 10 UK a mid wide might be the best option.. at least 25.7ish in the waist.

Hope that helps

Cool graphics, you’ve got to love Jamies Artwork, it’s completely defined Lib Tech’s style for the last 15 years! I’m sure you’ll be ok with the 160, but take a boot and the relevent binding along with you to make sure you haven’t got too much overhang…. sucks bad in deeper snow!

Don’t you think the 157w would be to short for me? Have you tried other libs like dark series?
Unfortunatley the shop did not have a 160 Jamie Lynn so had to order it online, which I did on the 9th Oct, it still has not arrived yet, but now it maybe the wrong size? (i’m such a muppet), luckly I can can swap it, when it (if it) arrives

Was it the 160 you ordered? If it’s the 160, it’s the right length. You’re 5 inches taller than me and 1.5stone, that’s spot on for the 160, the 157 is more my length although I usually ride a 158 or 159. Size ten boots aren’t that big, I’m sure the width will be fine.

Yeah I managed to ride the Travis Rice 157 too, unfortunately I didn’t get to test the Dark Series, I’ll definitely be checking it out next year… oh and the banana magic too!

I think the board should arrive tomorrow as checked my Credit card the money has been taken out a few days ago!
It’s a 160, I will take it to the shop along with my boots as need to buy bindings, any idea’s? hehe
who needs to Ask Jeeves… when we have ask rich
Found out the shop has 3x libs (all 157) Jamie lynn, Travis, skate banana so will try and demo them all, its only a indoor real snowdome so smaller board will be fine! Going to demo in Banff too! if I can and buy one there.

Hahaha yeah I should have an ‘Ask Rich column’ lika an agony aunt!

Ok bindings are the most subjective thing in snowboarding… it’s definitely all about what you like. One thing I’d say in favour of Burton is that the spares are available worldwide.. but saying that, they are massively overpriced. Ride bindings are a bit gimmicky.. but by all accounts are light and responsive. Union seem to be dominating the binding market at the minute, it’s definitely worth checking the force binding out, they also make the contact binding especially for rocker boards.

Yeah the Force is a fantastic all mountain freestyle binding. As an intermediate there’s no need to goo too expensive, you’ll just end up with a superlight binding with an unconfortably stiff highback which won’t encourage progression. Just a thought on the binding front. Perhaps look at the Union Contact which was designed specifically for rockered boards or the Drake Czar which I’ve just bought a set of. The Czar has great padding under the baseplate much like the Contact which should enable it to flex truer. However if you’re looking at Drake definitely check your boots fit. I got the Czars and my Size US 9s fit the large ok, but if my Vans boots were a milimeter wider I’d have to send them back. Also the Forum Shaka is designed to flex in the baseplate, thaey might be worth looking at.

Your a fountain of knowledge…..hope you can snowboard too!! :)
I thought the Union Contact were more for the park, I have never heard of Drake Czar, my boots are US 11 Vans Cirro, (actually I thought my boots were US 10 but their US 11) hope the width will be OK on 160 Pheonix

I’m sure you’ll be fine with Us 11s. Yeah the Contact is perhaps a little more freestyle orientated but there’s not an awful lot to a binding bar a highback and straps.. With the Drake Czar I’d look at the XLs for your boot size. Another set of bindings worth looking at would be the Rome Arsenal and the Salomon Code… great pice point on these bindings and have everything you need.

Thanks so much~

Actually, “ask Rich” one more question….promise

I have just bought 154 Ride promise for my wife (moaning mini) she’s more of a beginner but she can link turns, wondering what kind of bindings would be good for her?
She 5’9, 9.5 stone us 8 boot

I’d just go for the price point binding that represents best value for money. The Salomon and Celeste is good value for money… even the Burton Stilletto looks like its a good binding for the price. Or you could pair it up with a set of Ride DVA a really light binding. Key things to look for in a womens beginner binding are soft straps a low softish flexing highback and underfoot padding. Most ratchet bindings will be fine.
