im about to buy a 2011 Turbo Dream. My old board, the Burton Un.Inc. was 156cm.

I myself is 178cm and weigh about 78-82 kg, and wear size 42 snowboard boots. When i read the sizing guide on this site, i see that i free ride board, which i guess that the Turbo Dream is, is supposed to be quite long. Its just, that I really dont like the idea of riding with a board that is that long. I would have just have bought the 156cm model. But if some of you in here, is of the oppinion that you cant ride freeride boards that are short, please do tell my why? or is it okay to just ride the size i feel comfortable with?

Well the TD is an all-mountain board really. It’s designed for people who want to ride both park and powder. When you get into talking about proper freeride guns like the Palmer Crown or the Arbor A-Frame, these boards are designed to be ridden long for stability, extra effective edge in carves and some extra flaot in deep snow. There’s also very little benefit in riding them short because they’re not soft or forgiving enough to throw about like a freestyle board.

The TD is designed to be ridden at an all mountain length, between the nose and mouth, the rocker should give a bit of extra float in powder, so the 156 is a failr safe bet. With your weight I might have gone for the 159, but if you are used to riding a 156 then it sounds fine for you. Worry less, it’ll be great.

okay, thanks a lot for the quick reply. i really dont worry too much about it. but its the first time that i really have looked into things like board specs and profiles before buying. and i have before, made rather bad purchases, just because I thought i made a good deal regarding the price on the board. (forum manual 159, horrible board for me. didnt know the first thing to do with it :s )

this time i want it to be right on the money!

thanks again!
