So I’m planning on moving out to Colorado this summer and I’m looking forward to doing a lot of boarding.  I’ve never owned my own equipment, but I would consider myself an advanced-intermediate rider.  I’ve been looking at board, boots, and bindings over the past few weeks, but I just have a big list without knowing how to pare it down.  I plan on riding 50% groomers and 25% backcountry and park each.  I don’t think I’ll do rails or half pipe, just mainly kickers.  I’m 5’11” and 130 lbs.  I have a 9.5 boot size.  I’d rather not spend too much, but I’ve been looking at boards between $400 and $550.  Some of the ones I’m interested in are:
Burton Custom Flying V
Ross Angus and OneMagtek
Never Summer SL
Jones Mountain Twin
Among others.

I haven’t looked at many boots or bindings much, but I do have a narrow foot, so if anyone knows of any boot brands that cater to that, that would help too.  Thanks for the help.

The 3 boards that you listed that jump out to me are the Burton, Rossi OneMagTek and Jones MT.  Honestly you probably can’t go wrong with any of those three IMHO.

Burton has a ton of demo days so you should try to track one down to ride the Custom.  I would also hop on the Sherlock and Process as kind of a expensive to less expensive trip through the Burton line-up.

If you’ve been lurking on the site you have seen me gush over the Rossi OneMagTek a lot.  Pound-for-pound the board packs the most award-winning technology at an affordable price tag…  if I had to buy and ride one board this season, this is it.

And I have been uber impressed by Jones boards.  Same factory that makes YES boards, top-notch quality and finish.  I was impressed in the shop by the Jones line-up, very simple but clean design.

Thanks for the response.  I’m also wondering about what length to get and whether my low weight compared to my height would affect how any of these boards ride for me.
