I’ve been researching boards for a few weeks now, and just can’t decide on what would suit me best. I’ve been on the forums here and have seen similar posts, but I think mine is distinct enough to start a new thread.
A little background on me: I’m 5’11”, 170lbs, size 10.5 Driver Xs, CO2 bindings, and ride good snow most of the time. I have a season pass to Mammoth, and ride almost exclusively there with the exception of occasional trips to Utah, Colorado and Tahoe. I’ve been riding for 15+ years, and would definitely consider myself an advanced rider. I like to go fast in pow or on groomers, rail through the trees, and am always up to hike in search of fresh tracks. I also like to boost natural features and ride switch quite a bit on the groomers. My knees are trashed, so the park and pipe are pretty much off limits these days.
I’ve been riding a Rossignol Jones Experience 158 from a few years ago, and it has suited me pretty well. However, I’m very interested in riding a hybrid rocker board that may loosen up the feeling in the trees while still holding strong when I decide to mach it down a run. I really like the sound of the Rome Anthem SS, NS Heritage, and Capita Black Death. I was hoping to get on a Jones board, as I really like his concept and riding style, but I just feel like my needs fall between the Flagship and Mountain Twin. Suggestions and personal feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Christ, 15+ years you should have enough buddies around that you can try out a reverse camber board no? :)
They are getting really good at reinforcing high-end reverse camber boards so they have pop closer to they’re cambered cousins and don’t feel as washy as earlier designs.
Mammoth probably has a shitload of demo days by Burton, K2, Rossignol, etc. With your experience all you need is to try out different boards and you’ll probably know right away if it’s the one for you or not.
A personal favourite of mine for this season is the Rossi One Magtek… it would be the only board I would buy if I needed only one board. :)

Unfortunately, none of my friends have a hybrid board to try out that would fit what I want. I live in Orange County, which usually means guys riding boards more on the freestyle side of all-mountain, or just straight freestyle. I have ridden a Malolo though, and was hoping to keep a little bit of that surfy feel while still having control at speed, which rockered boards just don’t seem to have. I’ve been trying to find info on demo days at Mammoth, but no luck so far. I’m really liking what I’ve read about the Never Summer Heritage, but according to the NS website, they won’t be out here for a demo day. I think I may just pull the trigger anyway.
