I’ve been riding for 6 years, got a k2 select 159 which turns out is to big for me as i only weight around the 53kg mark. Discovering this and after last years frustrations with going slow and still not being able to ollie well, I started the search for a new board.

I love to carve and charge as fast as the little board will take me but i also like popping off the groomers and playing around on the whole mountain, taking in a few kickers, however rails don’t excite me.

My original list included:

ARBOR Element CX
ENDEAVOUR Board of Directors
RIDE Society UL
K2 TD
K2 Slayblade
DC Devun Walsh pro

I tried a few other boards but didn’t like them and unfortunatley the only boards i could try off that list were the K2’s and i was also given a Omatic Celebrity.

The slayblade i tried in a 159 which was just too big.
The TD put a big smile on my face but i tried it in a 156 which i think was a little too big.
The Celebrity was a 155 which i loved as i was able to ollie it with ease.

My concern is that the TD and the Celebrity will not carve well, as every review i read is different. If i go for a TD then i’ll get it in a 153 but not sure on the Celebrity.

Sorry to go, but as you can see i’m struggling, any help please just so i don’t waste my money and be dissapointed and left with the wrong stick like before.

Hi Seabass,

You are definitely too small for a 159! THat must have been like riding an oil tanker. With regards to the mixed opinions you have heard, I’m afraid that’s the problem with reviews, they’re just people’s personal thoughts. So I’ll do my best to help but it’s only opinion… although my opinion is obviously far superior to anyone elses ;). The 153 TD is going to be the right size for you. When I rode last years I was actually suprised at how solid it was in a carve, these boards definitely carve, and if you want to jib around too and spin off a kicker into a bit of powder the TD is a fantastic board for the job. So you can rest assured that if you buy the TD, it will do what you ask of it. You might miss a bit of a kick out the end if you are used to railing out snappy turns on a cambered board, but by the sounds of it, it’s been a 159 K2 slect that’s been telling you where to ride for the last few years.

Regarding the Omatic Celebrity. Again, I rode last year’s which was cambered. I found it snappy, responsive, extremely light and increadible on an edge. Definitely one of the most impressive freestyle boards I rode last year. unfortunately Omatic are tricky to get hold of so we haven’t got their boards on the site so far this year and I’m not sure how they’ve changed the Celebrity. One thing I can say is that the 155 is still too big for you and you ought be looking for a board in the early 150s.
