Hi guys,

After some advice on to what board i should get.

I’m 6’4 190 pounds, size 12 feet, id say I’m between beginner and intermediate, ride mostly mountain, can be icy condition’s sometimes.

Just looking for a board that i can improve on, maybe even try some freestyle on it.

Came across the Pam bikini, and with the cam rock it seems to be getting rave reviews for its easy riding in any conditions.

Thanks

Boze

Hey there Boze, welcome to the SBR forums.
Don’t get me wrong, I just have to say you are one quite huge fellow- that said, you definitely need a wide board with your size 12 boots.
Nidecker rates the PAM only with a 3 on their flex scale, meaning it’s one soft ride! Of course this makes turning easier in the beginning but as you are not a complete beginner I think this deck is not suiting you best.

It’s getting kind of old already, but you could check out the Rossi One MagTek ‘11- they put their AmpTek Rocker on it for this season, making it a easier ride than last years version. Equipped with MagneTraction it provides the rider with some extra grip on icy pistes.
Thing is- it’s only available in mid-wide so I’m not sure that is going to be wide enough for you.
You should check out our boot size calculator to make sure~

Some alternatives:
The Salomon Riot which is available up to 163W with a zero camber profile (I guess similar to K2’s zero camber decks they put e.g. on the Zero!), sintered base for speed and a mid flex (3/5).

... doorbell.. great.. also check out NeverSummers Widedecks, Ill be coming back ;)

Cheers, Tobi

I’m 6’3” , 200 with size 12’s as well.  I had been asking a similar question for some board advice.  Rich suggested the K2 turbo dream which comes in a wide…and I guess if you are a less advanced rider, the K2 Raygun is a similar board…the Raygun was a Good Wood winner for this year.  He also suggested the Never Summer Legacy, which as far as I can tell, has great hold on ice because of the Vario Grip sidecut and the Rocker Camber shape.

Good luck dude, I know it can be tough finding the board you want, that is long enough for the height/weight, and wide enough for the feet.

Hey guys!

Thanks for the reply’s!

I didn’t think it would be this hard trying to find a board, its become a total nightmare!

Yeah i thought it might have been a little soft! I just liked the graphic if i’m honest

Are there any boards that have the cam-rock profile that are a bit stiffer and more suited to my style of riding

Thanks

Boze

Yo Boze, don’t let it get to you! Remember that you are doing all this for fun and so chosing a new board should be fun as well. Just take a break when you feel like being overwhelmed by all that stuff; I know what I’m talking about!

Rossis Amptek is very similar to Nidecker’s Camrock which is also used in YES snowboards. Also the Signal Wavetech is using almost the same tech as the other two.
Have a look at the One MagTek I named above, check it out and let me know what you think.
Also, look at the NS wide boards I, as well, mentioned before.

Come back if you got any more questions to ask!
Cheers, tobi

I quite like that magtek!

But if i’m honest its between the jones flagship, jones twin mountain and the bataleon golieth.

I’l see what you say and i’m gona go for it!

Do you know the stiffness of the jones boards and what there like to ride?

And would they suit my style?

Thanks

Boze

Just make sure you look at the wide boards, because with a normal width deck, size 12s will have too much overhang. Plus if you want a Jones and you like in the States, you;ll have to be quick, they’ve nearly sold out completely. You can check the Jones Snowboards facebook page for availability, they seem to be updating the general public with stockists that still have boards available.

The Pam sure is a looker, too bad she didn’t make an appearance at ISPO. I think the Reef Girls were probably quite a bit hotter though.
