hey,
I’m on the lookout for a new board this winter, but I don’t know which one I should get. The Lib Tech Lando 157w, the Jamie Lynn 157 or the TRS 157. I mostly ride powder/backcountry, kickers and piste. I think the Lando is really nice in the pow, but since the 157 got a wide waist (25.9cm) I don’t know if this would be the best choice, cause my boots are only a US 9. I read the review about it and you said it wasn’t a bad choice with US 9 boots, but so it may also not the best right? The Jamie Lynn is alot narrower (25.1cm waist; 28.7 nose/tail), maybe to narrow in the deep stuff?...and the TRS ist something between those two. I also had a look on the Travis Rice and it got a wide waist, too (25.8cm).
What do you think?
thanks in advance

Hi MF,
I’m not sure you’ll notice the difference between the widths that much… I’f you’re going to be riding pipe, you might want to opt for the narrower waist of the Lynn but apart from that, 5mm won’t really be too noticable. Regarding the boards, the Lando and the Lynn are practically the same board, they both belong to the pheonix line of boards and have banana rocker between the feet. The rice on the other hand has the C2 power banana which has rocker between the feet and camber at the tip and tail, the idea being that you get the increased float and catch free riding of rocker and and the pop of camber. It’s kind of a compramise but the fact that TRice endorces it when he wouldn’t ride the standard banana reverse camber suggests there’s somthing about it. To be honest I liked riding both, perhaps the Rice has a touch more pop and a bit more grip in the pipe, but then the lando’s nose stayed up better on the spring corn/pow/slush conditions. It’d be interesting to know what the boards ride like after a season, whether the standard banana boards loose all of their pop.
Hope that helps
