I’ve been hunting down and researching a new solid freestyle bored that leans more heavily on park use. I’ve narrowed it down to three and would like to know which of the three would be best for New England freestyle where we lack that nice fresh pow and back country booters. I’m thinking a Lib Tech Skate Banana-152, a Forum Destroyer-152, or The DC Iikka Pro Model. If there are any others I should concider let me know. I’ve mainly been sticking to the brands I know due to the fact I’d be ordering it off line and have trouble finding enough info on some brands to comfort me.
Thanks
-Keith

All great boards… but quite different.

I’m guessing you’re looking for a board to push your park riding with. Are you looking for a board more for kickers and transitions or is your new board going to be mostly sliding on boxes and handrails? Or.. will it be divided between the two?

What’s your current park riding level? Are you hitting technical rails or biggish jumps, or are you just starting to develope your skills in the park?

I’m pretty much all over the park but really looking to push my spins and inverts but have already progressed on rails and boxes so I wanted to be able to continue developing on those. I figured the reverse camber would be good for all around park but something like the Skate Banana might be better because the rocker is inbetween the bindings opposed to flowing through out the entire board so I can always revert back to my rails without limiting myself in either direction.
Also just checked out the GNU Park Pickle. Now I haven’t heard much about GNU but that does seem like a pretty solid stick.

Also I’m not really looking at the pipe at all, if the helps. The pipe at the local mountian is absolute shit so I just stick to the kickers and rails.

Gnu are made by Mervin Manufacturing who also make Lib Tech. Essentially they are exactly the same boards under two different brand names.

My thoughts would be to go for a board with Magnetraction edges, I’m gethering it can get pretty icy on the east coast. The Gnu Park Pickle is a solid board, the assymetric sidecut works quite well so the board is responsive, agile and grippy. If you’re looking to push your inverts and kicker spins, I might look at a board like the GNU Danny Kass, it uses rocker between the bindings and camber at the nose and tail. For carves into bigger jumps it feels a bit more planted, a bit poppier on the take-off and you won’t have to worry about washing out if you land tail heavy. The Gnu Danny Kass also uses Mag edges so it’ll grip. The Forum Destroyer is going to provide the right stiffness and versatility, but I think you might find it a bit loose when the snow is hardpack.

What size feet have you got?
