I have been riding my 05 maybe 06 Forum youngblood for the past 4 years or so and just this past winter i have gotten really commited to snowboarding. i Live in saskatchewan and the mountains here are…. not the greatest, so when i ride here its mostly park but when i do get out to the mnountains i rarely set foot in the park. That being said i need a good board for shredding all around the mountain and also one that is good in the park. Help is very appreciated.

P.S. preferably nothing over 700$, also i ride a board somewhere between a 150-153.
Thanks

To help us a little better can you give us some more stats like you height, weight and boot size?

Also, thinking about next season how often are you going to be riding the park versus the resorts?

ok i am 5.7, 119 lbs and size 10 boot

and i will be doing a little more park riding than resort but not much. id say probably like 60% park vs 40% resort.
Hope this helps.

Bunch of slackers on the site, ok…  I’ll hopefully get the ball rolling for you.

In K2 you can look at their progression series.  Two boards to note at the Darkstar and Parkstar.  The Darkstar is a flatline freestyle board while the Parkstar is jib rockered for more park / playfulness ride.  I have the Parkstar and I used it all over BC and Alberta here…  while I didn’t hit deep pow it was amazingly fun, so easy to manual yet it really can keep a straight line at some speed.

In Rossignol they have the Decoy Amptek.  It’s packing Magnetraction and Freestyle Amptek so it has teeth for ice and more pop in it’s rockered shape.

In Burton the Hero would be a solid pick…  a great freestyle board but slightly expensive and you need Burton channel bindings.

In Ride for the past 2 seasons I’ve heard good things on the Machete.  I dig the slimewall tech to reduce chatter and protect the sidewalls.  It may be a little stiff for you but stiffness is better when hitting larger features and taking your riding up a level.

That should get you studying for a bit. :)

Just one little thing…....the Decoy doesn’t have magnetraction. But it is a wicked board and still very grippy.

Rossignol website is friggin’ confusing…  it looks like it has magnetraction but it doesn’t really say so.  Does it?

ok thanks so much for the advice.

One thing though… the shop in my city (yes only 1) carries a lot of bataleon and rome. i have narrowed it down to 1 board from each company. The artifact rocker and the evil twin. are those good for my situation? There is a possibility for me to go into the city but in that case i need three solid options. are those two good or should i try some others?
i really appreciate the help.

Artifact Rocker is definitely 100% rails or small jibs. If you intend to ride groomers, halfpipe and 30ft plus jumps there’s no competition, the Evil Twin is the board for you.

Yea, I think they changed a little bit of the TBT uplift and the sidecut. Not totally sure though. Maybe Rich can chime in on this.

Yeah spot-on. For this season there were a few changes to the Evil Twin, I think they tweaked the TBT and the blend between the nose and tail and the sidecut. There are a lot of fans of the original shape so they’re continuing to use the old cassette to make the original / classic shape. Sounds like a good way of recycling an old design.

so for my situation which of them would be better? the classic or this years 2011? or are they equally just as good. cause personally if they are qually just as good i like the classic graphic better…

I don’t think there is a better, and I think you’d probably only notice the difference if you’d switched from riding thr original shape all season to riding the new shape. If you like the classic’s graphic more, I’d go with that.
