Hi im looking for something similar to the atomic Axum, Im not really into a board for rails just want a soft jib stick for tricking around on, doing butters, and 1’s,3’s and 5’s off jibs etc.
Any ideas?

Hi Powderider,
Have you checked out the park snowboards article on the home page? If you’re looking for a board with buttery goodness, fun for jibbing all over the show I think you’d love a rocker deck. Have a look at the Forum Scallywag, Gnu Park Pickle and the K2 Parkstar, there’s a review of each on the relevant board pages. If you want to go softer, then you’re talking about the Lib Tech Box scratcher, K2 Jibpan and Signal Park Rocker, but be warned these boards are rubber! If you’re on a budget have look at the Gnu Carbon Credit Series which has Magnetraction and Banana rocker at a good price, or the nitro swindle which has a base that looks like a wound when it’s scratched.

Seriously?

Yeah seriously, it’s called the ‘Scratch & RIP base’... just pray the guy servicing your board with the stone grind doesn’t go too crazy!
Oh and the swindle has zero camber too, which will make it super jibby and ooze on rails.

So, i just had a look at the scallywag and also the nitro rook and haze. I like the feel of both the scallywag and the haze but the graffics are pants on the scallywag and im finding reviews about the haze haveing a tendency to err snap!?
The only thing that puts me off about the rook is that it has no camber and i have never riden a board with no camber before, so it would be a big leap of faith to just go right im gonna buy it coz it looks smart and feels good in the shop.
Anything else i should be looking around for and what is 0 camber like to ride are you going to be catching edges all the time, or is it just like riding any other board.
Im currently riding a Capita stair master, and i find it slightly too stiff for butters, presses, etc.

You should really check out the GNU Park Pickle Rich mentioned before. The graphics take some getting used to but to me it seems as it would be a rather good choice for you!

Zero camber riders like a deck you’ve ridden for years, still got the pop of a newish board (obviously you sacrifice a bit because there’s no camber) but a slightly looser feel than a cambered board. I know you’re not interested in rails, but flat boards feel really locked on on rails and boxes. As far as catching edges goes, you’re no more likely to catch an edge than you on a camber board, when you’re weight’s applied to a cambered board, the base is flat.
As far as the Scallywag graphics go, i guess it’s personal opinion but I think they’re brilliant. A pirate eating a banana! What more could you want, and a big visible base graphic that says Scallywag! Aaarrrggghh she’s a beauty!

From what I can gather, the Haze is Nitro’s entry level park/urban twin. Soft biaxial glass, a low maintainance extruded base and minimal camber. I guess it’s ideal for jibs and urban rail missions, but not particularly standout.

while we’re discussing Nitro boards, does anybody know about the Rook? This board recently came under my radar b/c I hear it is a park board that handles pow like it’s christmas, something I’m definitely interested in, has some good tech behind it.

Nitro – Rook
Similarly to the K2 Believer; Nitro have developed the Rook with a zero camber profile and longer nose and tail to help riders rule in the backcountry as well as the park. Like the Believer this board is great fun in the park; stable on rails and boxes and poppy off of takeoffs and landings. This is a board that will rule the park and allow you to a great time when the park is closed due to too much snow.

The powability (add to dictionary please!) of the Rook comes from it having zero camber, I guess.

I think the tip profile would help with that too, just wondering if anybody’s owned one?
