Hey everyone,
Ive been riding a K2 Darkstar for a few years and am looking for a new board. Until now ive been a pretty much top to bottom kind of rider. I want to continue hammering down the mountain at speed but also want to start hitting some grabs and 360s off SMALL jumps on my way down. I would prefer to stick with K2 and have been looking at the Believer and the Fastplant in the flatline model, NOT the rocker. They were both recommended but they seem like completely opposite boards. Which one suits my needs?? Any advice welcome. Thankyou.

Welcome man,

The Believer has a flat profile while the Fastplant has the jib rocker profile.  Fastplant is definitely more geared towards the park / freestyle.

Tom Ewbank has been ripping it up all around the world on the Believer, and from what he has done and what you want to do I think out of the two the Believer would be the ticket.

Hope that helps, I love K2 gear as well. :)

Cheers for your quick reply… Here in Japan they have a limited edition Fastplant which is actually a flat line and NOT the jib rocker, so i figured that might be better for the slopes. Any opinion?

Limited Edition zero camber Fastplant… that sounds interesting.

My thoughts are the same as Reloaded’s, the Believer is definitely the more all-mountain of the two, that’s not to say it doesn’t work in the park, it’s just the flex of the fastplant is more dialled park riding. And that’s not to say the Fastplant doesn’t do carving, it’s so much fun on the pistes and in the park, the bamboo core gives it loads of life. I just think for off piste and sketch snow you might find it less stable than the Believer.

You’ll love both, but I think the Believer will meet your needs more for charging around the mountain.

Thanks Rich,
Yeah, that seems to be the general consensus im getting… It seems to be a bit stiffer than my current Darkstar so should give me an easier carve with less chatter. I just read a reply to a post that said the width of board can mean the difference between a good board and a dud. These are my measurements:
174cm, 70kg wearing 26.5cm Deeluxe boots
The ideal size in the Believer i think is the 154 with 8.0 sidecut and 24.90 waist width. Does that seem about right or should i be looking at the 157??

If you’re looking for a board to take you all over the mountain then I’d go with the 157…..That’s what I rode for a season in Argentina and a season in Switzerland and I’ve got pretty similar stats to yourself. If you go shorter you’ll compromise stability and pop.
