Hi! I’ve been riding for about 3 years now, and I’ve been riding park for about 2 years. I’ve been riding a LAMAR which is too big for me and is wayy to scratched up. I ride at a place called C.O.P Canada’s Olympic Park which is in Calgary, and usually my friends and I go there almost everyday after school to ride the park there. Its really close and its better than nothing. But on weekends, we usually go up to Sunshine Village to ride some pow and the park of course, and the back country which is amazingggg. We also go up to Lake Louise and all that stuff, but basically we always end up riding park for a lot of the runs that we do. So I’m really stuck on which board I should get. Price doesn’t matter… but the boards I’m looking at are the endeavor boyfriend, tech nine dime, and the burton feel good. I’m a girl 15 years old, 5’1 and I weigh about 115 pounds. Thanks so much! :]
*Edit* Also, I need help deciding which bindings I should get for each board… I’m thinking Ride bindings? Hahah I don’t knoww. :( Help pleaseeee.

Hi Annie,
I saw that park in Calgary on the TV.. I think there was a TTR or Burton Open event there. Which is fortunate because I know exactly what your needs are.
So you ride in the park and pipe most of the time (after school), but you want a board that will work in the pow in the Rockies for the occasional road trip. The Endeavor Boyfriend is a pretty mega board, especially this coming seasons board with the cool beach towl graphic… perfect for hitting the park and one of the last remaining Canadian built decks.
Have you thought about a lib tech board. If you pick out a reverse camber board, you’ll get a bit more flaot in pow and looseness of jibs and then you have the Mag edges for grip on ice?
What size is your Lamar?

As Rich already topped off the board-thing, I will try to take care about the bindings a bit:
Of course high build-quality is really important for bindings but in case you choose one of the major binding companies (like Union, Salomon, Ride, Burton, Raiden,..) you probably won’t have to concern much about that part.
Way more important for your riding is the stiffness of the bindings. As you are riding mostly park, a softer freestyle binding should be the one of your choice (I wouldn’t go for too noodle-ish, though); they are more forgiving and provide you with a loosier feeling.
So why don’t you just check out some of the freestyle bindings of the companies I named above and come back with some more questions once you narrowed down your choice a bit :)
Cheers, Tobi

Also to add for bindings, you should also try out Rome bindings. In my opinion they are some of the best ones and definitely make the best toe cap/strap.

Hey Annie,
I gotta agree with Rich on this one; if you watch our ‘King of Jib’ video you’ll see how well all the lib’s performed. The fact that they have magnetraction means that you can have a looser, jibbier rockered profile but still get grip on ice when you need it. Magnetraction also means that your edges don’t have to be as sharp, making gliding along rails less catchy. You’ll also find that the rocker profile means you have better float in powder and can get away with a slightly shorter deck.
What Rich failed to mention was that Lib Tech’s girl-specific decks carry the ‘Roxy’ brand name. They’re still made and designed by Mervin but it was just part of the deal when Quiksilver bought Mervin Manufacturing 3 or 4 years ago. We should have all of the Roxy range live on the site within the next month so keep your eyes peeled. No doubt Rich will get back to you regarding which Roxy deck would most suit your style of riding.

Hey! Thanks so much for responding guys :]. But uhm, I used to ride a 151 which felt a little too big for me. I think I might try a smaller size? But I’m not for sure. As in for snowboards I was looking into the skate banana’s but a lot of my friends are telling me the endeavor boyfriend is a better bored for me… but I’m not sure. :(. For bindings, I think I might try either rome or ride bindings, I’ve tried both of them on my friends board and I like them both very much :]

Ahh… also I’ve been kind of looking at the fourm star… is it any good? :O

Afraid I’m not too clued up on the Forum Star.
Length wise I think you could probably ride a board between 145 and 148. To be fair the Boyfriend is going to do everything you want it to do in Calgary, the camber profile will give you plenty of pop and grip in the icier conditions. I was thinking having reverse camber and mag edges would help you with float in powder and and grip on ice as well as getting that buttery banana goodness for presses on jibs and boxes.

Hi Annie… you live in my neck of the woods, I live in Calgary now. Spent pretty much all last season out in Lake Louise and Banff but living in the city I’ll probably be heading to COP quite a bit now, especially since I live less then 5 minutes away.
Being that Sportschek has some ridiculous prices on boards one of the best ones I found for girls is Roxy boards. Basically made in the same factory as the Lib and Gnu boards so they have solid technology in them but since they are in a huge chain they are crazy cheap compared to their brothers sold in Mission and The Source.
Speaking of The Source they are having there annual summer sale…

Would be a great time to pick up a new deck at some crazy price probably. I would head over but I’m poor and don’t want to flirt with temptation… although if you do go let me know if they have wrist guards, lol. :)
And these guys are super knowledgeable, honestly if they suggest a board it’s because it is solid.

Yeahh I went to the source sale. I tried to find a endeavor boyfriend but they didn’t have one so instead I got the fourm star, haha. I got like everything 50% off it was amazing but I had to wait outside for like an hour haha. Sorry though, I’m not sure if they had any wrist guards though I didn’t check D:. Thanks so much for everything, everyone. :]
But thats really cool! Haha I live five minutes away. Maybe we’ll become friends. LOL. :]

Scweet, glad you went and got a great deal… off-season is really the best time to buy!
I’m always on S-R.com, feel free to send me a PM during the season. :)

50% off…. you know it’s a deal when the shop makes absolutely no money on your equipment.
Good skills.
