Frank’s wondering whether to upgrade his Ride Concept TMS for a K2 Slayblade or took look elsewhere.

I’m hoping to get some advice on the Slayblade.  Coming from riding the 162 K2 Recon (which was a great Freeriding board)...I was torn between purchasing the Slayblade or the Ride TMS Concept this past season.  I ended up purchasing the Ride TMS Concept and wasn’t impressed with the board. It didn’t turn with much ease and most importantly…it lacked speed when compared to my brother’s Ride #4 or my old K2 Recon.  My question is…how would the Slayblade perform vs the Ride TMS Concept? Should I have gone with the Slayblade…or do I keep looking for an eventual replacement to the TMS Concept.

First thing of note is that Ride and K2 boards are made in the same factory by the same engineers. Ride is owned by K2 sports. My only dislike of Ride boards is the Urethane sidewalls, granted they’re great for rails and park action but I think they’re too damp and energy sucking for lively carving. I think another problem might be that you’re used to having the built in risers on the Recon. To answer your question,  yes you might like the Slayblade more, the Harshmellow dampeners might give you the familiar feeling of having risers, the sintered base on the Slayblade is super fast and the carbon reinforcement return tons of energy, plus the zero camber mean turns pretty easily.

Of course there are other options. What kind of terrain are you spending most of your time riding? What kind of riding level are you at? Where do you mostly ride?
