Hi everybody,
this year I really got into snowboarding. I just bought Burton Rulers, size 12. I already tried them indoor, and they are perfect. So, now I’m looking for a board. When I’m indoor, I’m most of the time in the funpark. But when I’m in the mountains I do about everything. So I’m looking for a bit stiffer park board. So I will be able to do more than only park.
I came up with these boards:
- Ride DH 153w, 156w
- Flow Quantum 155w
- K2 Darkstar 154w
I am about 6’1’ tall, and I weigh about 140 pounds. I know I’m probably limited to wide-boards because of my boot size. And I know that wide-boards are a lot of the times a bit stiffer, so would this be a problem with my weight?
Now does the Burton website say that my boot has some kind of shrinkingstech, it means it would be 1 full size smaller then normal boot. I’ve got the feeling that this probably is some talk to try to sell as much as possible. Does anyone have some information about that?
Thank you all

Hi Rude000X,
Sorry for the late reply, been trying to get ready for this years board test on top of my real job… not moaning but could do with another couple of hours in the day.
Ok providing additional reinforcement isn’t added to a board, the stiffness of the board is related to the cross sectional area between the reinforcement laminates… in other words the board isn’t going to be much stiffer if you add an extra cm of width to a board, however there are instances when they do beef up wide boards. In snowboarding terms you’re pretty light but fairly tall so I’m thinking a short board for your weight and a long board for your height.. I think for indoor riding with a bit of all mountain crusing a 155W is going to fit your requirements. Although your boots are shrink fit, you’re still an 11 boot, so you should be riding a wide deck… too much overhang is a pain in all terrain.
Boards wise, I’m thinking a 154W Parkstar, Nitro T1 155W or the Forum Destroyer chillidog 154 or 156W.
The Parkstar and the Destroyer are rockered which should make them tons of fun indoor and versatile enough to give you a big of extra float in pow. The T1 is zero camber so it’ll lock onto rails and still be steady enough for riding fast and carving hard. I’m afraid I don’t know much about the Flow Quantum. The DH is a do everything deck but I think 153 is too short, you’ll want some nose and tail for stability out of the park… I’d look at the DH2 in a 156, the rocker will free up the ride and the Urethane sidewall are super damp on rails.

Thanks,
I will try to find those boards in my region. Maybe I can test some of them. Luckely I got a lot of time.
Thanks again
