So i’ve been snowboarding a couple of years and i’m comfortable with my carving but now i wanna get into getting some air of jumps and hopefully next season get into the park. If anyone has any suggestions on which board would be best suited for me and if there is a board by another brand i’m opened to that as well.
I’m looking for an intermediate snowboard the current one i have is a random one (sierra board that was about 155 cm) i got from play it again sports which has done good for now that i’m good with carving but it’s pretty stiff though.
I’m thinking about getting:
-All mountain board probably leaning towards freestyle, I don’t plan on hitting the park this season but i hope to hit some of bumps and jumps on the Tremblant hills
-Flex probably around 4-6 ( also with the more flex do the boards become harder to control? also will it most likely break faster?)
-Twin directional and centered and about 155 cm
-I don’t know to much about the side wall of a board but i heard some are more durable than others when they wrap around from the top to the side of the board
-I was thinking a rocker since i read they are give you a better pop and a better for parks but would a camber work just as good?
- if possible one that will help with carving on the more icy patches
-I’m about 5’4 or 5’3 and about 130 in weight and size 9 women’s shoe or size 7 men’s
I was looking at the SL (All mountain freestyle - mens board) would that be a good choice for what i’m looking for? Also about the flex meter it says damp meter what does it mean by damp?
thank you

From your description it sounds like these might be good choices for you in the Never Summer line:
Proto HD 152 or 154
Infinity 154 or 151
SL 153 or 151
The damp meter is an indication of how well the board absorbs vibrations. The higher the damp rating, the more stable the board will feel at higher speeds and the smoother it will feel when riding uneven or tracked out snow. The better the board is at absorbing all the bumps and vibrations, the less fatigued your legs are going to feel.

Awesome thanks!!
Quick question about the sizing you gave, using my old board as an example the sierra 155 cm ( which measured between my chin and lower lip) would you say that would be a bit big?
So on their website is the damp meter is showing 7, would that mean you would feel less of the terrain or more?

My suggestions for sizing was based off of your weight and boot size. Looking at the specs on Never Summer’s website, it seems like those sizes might be a better fit for you. Going a little shorter than what you’re riding now might also help you on the freestyle side of things.
As far as your question concerning dampness, the higher the number the more damp the board is and the less you’ll feel through your legs.
