Alright So i’n thinking about looking into a splitboard but first i want to know whether the boarding aspect of it will be the same as my normal board. Will riding, turning, landing impact, integrity all be the same? I just want to make sure i’m not gonna get one and have to relearn how to ride. All the reviews i read are useless because they’re all compared to how other splits ride or versus snow shoes which isnt helpful. So will it ride same as any board(within reason)? or will it be a completely different concept?

Hey Mason,
The good news is, riding a splitboard is pretty damn similar to riding a normal board. They are usually a little heavier, if you use standard bindings on Voile plates there’s usuall a bit of extra binding baseplate thickness and unless you buy a purpously manufactured splitboard with special reinforcement there’s a little less torsional stiffness than a standard snowboard… but in general the ride is pretty similar. When you’re riding powder you won’t notice the difference.
Two winters ago I did my first splitboard trip. Here’s an Splitboard trip in Austria
