Good snowboard for going fast

To start off with stats, I’m 6’1, 190 lbs, and I’ve got a size 12 foot. I’m an intermediate; I’m good at maintaining control at high speeds, I can zip down blacks, I can hit drops/hills at speed, and I’m passable at riding switch.

I’m looking at buying my first board (since I’m sure I’ve sunk twice as much into rentals as the cost of a board), and I’m looking for somthing that can give me some speed without horrible vibration and handle sharp turns and quick stops like a champ. Something flexible would be nice in the event that I hit a mogul or two wrong, but most of my time is on the groomers; I’d put my riding at about 70% on trails, 20% moguls, and 10% park. Once again, keeping stable while going as fast as possible and occasionally flying through the air is my main concern. Something that can handle a little bit of abuse and keep some semblance of control on ice would be nice too; last winter’s drought in Steamboat Springs taught me some valuable lessons about ice and hidden vegetation. I’ve been looking around for a few days now, but I really just don’t know what I’m looking for. I’d like to keep the price low, but I’ll hit about $500 if it comes down to it.

Thanks in advance!

Given your budget try Ebay for a previous season Custom X.  It hasnt changed much over the last few years as i understand it its mental fast and carves like its on rails through anything.  Especially groomers.

Something like the Rossignol One Magtek or the Nitro Blacklight perhaps? Check out these boards and let me know if I’m on the right track.

@Rich
Have you already seen One Magtek 2013 graphics maybe?
I’ve been searching it for while and for this moment I can’t find it anywhere. I found almoust all 2013 Rossi collection but not One Magtek.
On zuzupopo there are many 2012/2013 catalogs without Rossi :( yet.

I thought I had a pic from ISPO but unfortunately not.

But worry not. We’re at the board test in 3 weeks time so I’ll get a photo then if Rossi are attending the test again. From what I remember, it was black (again) with a kind of astrology theme… maybe a bit like Capita designs… but I might be getting a bit mixed up.

I forgot mention earlier that I really enjoy your website. Here I watched your Rossi One Magtek review. After that I almoust decided it will be my next board (I’m considering Endeavor HIGH 5 also but nevermind).
I’m looking for the graphics of One Magtek because I just simple don’t like this year graph (I know that graphic doesn’t ride but still It is nice to have cool graphs - like Endeavor)

I belive you’ve already seen new high 5 - it’s sick as always :)

I think that HIGH 5 is the coolest board from Endeavor: excellent edge holding, carving and madness graph. That’s why I considering this board as well as One Magtek. In Poland on sale HIGH 5 is cheaper than Rossi :). It cost less than 200 pounds in this moment.
But magnetraction seems to give as same or better edge hold even on really icy pistes.  That’s another tough choice :)

Best Regards

Yeah, saw it at ISPO… soo nice. If you like firm cambered boards you’ll love the High5. It’s pretty stiff compared to most boards out there. The extra length of effective edge that the flat kicks afford the High5 are also good if you want to size down a bit without loosing grip. The Rossi is definitely an easier board to ride. By the sounds of it, you ‘d also like the Salomon Man’s Board… worth looking at if you haven’t already seen it.

Thanks for board advice. I consider myself as fresh intermediate rider.
I still do a lot of errors in technical riding. Last season I started to go reasonably well over the edge. And now looking for boards that will allow me to develop my skills, especially in the fast going down on groomers and occasional jumps.
My old Technine Split T is definitely to soft for fast ride edge to edge.
Board which I think suit for me - 181cm and 74 kg it’s: One Magtek 156, High 5 155, I was thinking about other End Live Camber 156 but I’m afraid it will not as good edge holder as that two.

Wow good find! That’s an internal sales meeting presentation… no way they’d want consumers to see it. Oh well ;)
