Hello

I am deciding to buy a new board but options are overwhelming.

I want a snowboard kinda verstile. Mainly to go down hard groomers, with some ice at the end of the day. Not so much pow, as in the last 6 years I have seen none where I usually go. I am starting to do jumps on the side of the piste, some turns and love the feeling of buttering and doing small tricks as I go down the hill, using the natural features to do them. I will probably never do a big jump, but probably will try the park once in a while (my directional freeride SB is not for that, too stiff and difficult to ride switch, so never tried).

I was looking at the Attack Banana that has some features I like, like hybrid camber, magnatraction and a little more stiffness than the Skate Banana. However , it is way out my price range.

Can you help me selecting something similar in terms of specs? I have read lots about Lib-Tech’s and Burton´s technology, but I´m completely lost regarding other brands like K2 or Ride.

Thanks!

Hey,

what is your price range then?
There are several good boards I could recommend but unfortunately all that come to my mind right now aren’t that cheap, so just let me know..

Cheers Tobi

Looking for something under $500. Less if its possible as I have to buy bindings and boots too. I’d prefer not to go the Burton EST road, as I not usually tweak my bindings (not to say never), and don´t want to be limited to Burton bindings. However, this is possibly the last equipment I will ever buy, so I don´t have a problem spending some good money if it is really worth it.

For reference, I am 5’11 and 163 pounds, boot size 10 or 10.5.

Thanks

I’m gonna hijack this thread, because you are asking the same questions as I am. With the exception, that I plan to spend 400€ max on just the board. I heard good things about the Attack Banana, mainly from this review: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIC1PROWEO4

Also I want to go Backcountry, and not only from time to time. Still being able to butter would be a great thing but my priorities are as follows:

[x] Piste [45]%
[x] Pow/Backcountry [50]%
[x] Park (Kicker/Pipe) [5]%
[ ] Rails [ ]%

I am 1,85m and 85kg. I do have a Burton Moto US11 (so footprint of an US10), which just enables me to go mid-wide.

My choice so far is between Lib Techs’ Skate Banana, TRS or the Travis Rice Pro.

EDIT:
I’m gonna add the Never Summer Proto CTX and the K2 Turbo Dream to the list. Would love to hear your opinion on this.

I was looking for something similar recently and I ended up with the GNU Riders Choice pickle.  Maybe a little expensive though.

Other ones for you to consider:

Smokin Superpark
Arbor Blacklist (or Westmark depending on if you want wide or not)
and maybe Nitro Team Gullwing.
