i am struggling with the

rocker - camber - rocker
or
camber - rocker - camber

I have read the basics section here on this site, that helped, but still..

I want to bomb the groomers 60%, pow 20% and hit the park 20% of the time.
I am use to old stiff camber board, but want something that can do this but be more playful.

with rocker - camber - rocker I have heard you need to go wider which i dont like the idea of. Was set on a Rossi one mag, then told for 190lb i need 163. now thinking of never summer SL. then there is the Capta black snowboard of death.

Other option is to stick with just plain old camber.

Personally if your going to be bombing groomers most of the time, your going to want some control. and if you still was playful then you will need a soft board.

Your best bet would be to go with a tradition camber board, thats a soft-medium flex.

There are so many crazy cambers out there, you really never can tell whats best for you. Try going to your local demo days to try out the different cambers to see how they really feel.

I’d look at specific boards rather than camber types. My riding is divided up similarly to yours. This year I’m riding a direction zero camber board which I’m really enjoying. I think the Rossi One would fit your needs, but I would also suggest a board like the Nitro Blacklight that uses the alternative hybrid. As long as the board isn’t too stiff or too soft you’ll get the versatility you need. A directional board cambered board in powder will be ok, but a twin cambered board in powder will not be fun. I rode a cambered twin in pow at the start of the season and I caught my nose far too many times… hybrid camber, zero camber or rocker will increase the fun factor a lot.

Between the two hybrids… rocker-camber-rocker : the flex is in the tips which means sharp trannies are fun and in the pow the board feels really nimble on flatter cat tracks they can feel a bit slow edge to edge. Good edge hold but less pop out of turns.

Camber-rocker-camber : flex comes from between the feet making short radius turns very smooth. Lots of pop out of ollies but perhaps a little less floaty and nimble in pow. I think this variety is closer to the feel of camber.

Hope that helps

Rich
