Hey stuck on this one. I’m looking for a good freestyle/all mountain board that has no trouble in the park, but isn’t too park focused. So is the machete too park centered, and will the process flying v not be able to handle the park? Thanks,

I read somewhere on a forum, that the burton custom flying V is like boarding on a salad bowl. I don’t know how the custom compares to the process.

Interesting… Happen to know what they meant by that? I could be missing something there. Thanks for the recommendation- I’ll check how they stack up to each other.

If that was in relation to the edge hold on the custom flying v, then I can see why. It’s very polarised, where some people love it and others don’t. Not heard much about the process though, so I’m not sure whether it’s edge hold is similar..

Salad bowls suck in powder… who’s ever ridden a salad bowl?
The fastplant is like a Parkstar with more pop and a bit more adge hold. If I was riding a 60% park I’d probably ride one as my everyday board. The Machete is pretty similar apart from the fact it doesn’t have a bamboo core which definitely gives the Fastplant some extra life… also I’m not a huge fan of the Urethane sidewalls that Ride uses, my experience is that they don’t feel as grippy as solid material like ABS.

Aha yeah I guess I was a bit slow there… I’d say that I’m more 20-30% park, mainly because I haven’t done a whole lot of park riding, but I did like it. Would the fastplant be too park centred for me then? What I’ve heard from some forums is that the process flying v can’t handle anything other than the park, but some people say it leans more all moutain

Okay so while I was checking the fastplant again, I saw the TD. So I decided to look at it and it’s reviews. It looks like it would be a great board because of it’s all mountain capability, but it seemed like might lack the playfulness of the fastplant. So as I said before, if I’m probably 20-30% of a park rider atm, would the fastplant be too much of a a park board or should I spring for the TD?

I’ve got one of the original 2009/10 Machetes and rarely go in the park with it, so I can definitely vouch for its all mountain abilities!! It’s a very playful board and floats well in the pow. I rode it for a season with a centred stance but as most of my riding is playing around in the pow on the sides and in the trees, I moved my bindings as far back as they’ll go and it stills rocks everywhere. It’s a top board but then so is the K2 TD ;-)

The K2 FastPlant would be my top choice, I was actually looking into getting one when I first saw there ad for the Bamboo Cores. I did some more research and really liked it!
When I had the chance to Demo it. It was a little stiff for my taste.
This being the only reason I did not get it.
