Hey guys,

Last night i got back from Stowe mountain resort in Vermont. While i was there my bindings broke, and i pretty much trashed my board. This whole season I’ve wanted a new board, just because of how heavy and slow mine is. So I decided next year I’m buying a whole new setup. My only problem is i have no idea what to get..

I pretty much enjoy mountain riding mountain/ back country more than park, but i do wanna try to get better at park. I’m 6’2, 160lbs, and size 12 shoe.

Any help/ recommendations will be helpful.

Thanks!

p.s. The most i could possibly spend is $800.

I’d go back to Stowe or Killington and stop by Darksiders.  I just got my new board there and the experience was great.  You can demo as many boards as you want in a day and apply the cost of the demo ($50/day) to a new setup.

I’d try out the Rome Agent Rocker (which is what I ended up getting) and the Libtech TRS at a minimum.  Those were my two favorites, and represent pretty well the different styles available for all mountain boards.

I tried the Burton Cartels, Burton Custom EST’s and the Rome 390 Bosses for bindings, and felt the latter were better than the first two in every way.  They felt lighter, the toe strap stays on better, and you can adjust the footbed with the inserts it comes with.  They also have an elastic mechanism that attaches to the ankle strap so that you can easily get your foot in the binding without having to worry too much where the strap is situated (I was constantly stepping on the burton cartel strap when trying to strap in, which got incredibly frustrating.  If unlike me, you’re very flexible, this may not be such an issue).

Hope that helps.
