Hey, Im Ryan from Australia
Thinking of buying a new board and it will be my first purchase. I’ve been riding for around 3 years but winter here only lasts for like 2 months, I’ve picked it up really quickly though.
I’m 6’0 and 185 pounds with size 11.5 boots
I’ve been researching boards for weeks and I like the k2 range
I’ve narrowed it down to two boards either:
K2 darkstar 160 wide
or k2 Turbo dream 157 wide
I mainly freeride but am interested in trying some park stuff out.
Keen to hear any suggestions because im syked to get a board for the coming winter!

Hey - I think the Turbo Dream might be the better option for you since you’re going to be mainly riding piste. It has K2’s flatline base, which is going to be more stable on a run than the Darkstar’s jib rocker. The Darkstar will be more forgiving in the park though due to the jib rocker. The Darkstar will probably be OK for all mountain riding, bit a bit less stable at speed and have a looser feel overall.
The Turbo Dream has some nice features for all-mountain like Harshmellow (basically cushions under your bindings), and I can tell you from experience that it does help on landings and with dampening on runs.
I guess you need to weigh up how much time you’re realistically going to be spending in the park vs the time you’ll be out on the slope to figure out which one is going to be best.
