hey,
Looking to buy my 1st board very shortly i have been boarding about a month though and cannot get enough of it!

Got my eye on these, but can’t make my mind up…

Artec Novus - (Probs my favourite atm)
Salomon Drift
Atomic Hatchet

I have size 11 (12 US) boots (vans hi standard), I am 6ft tall and weigh 10.5 stone (67kg or 147lbs) So i think i will be ok for sizes 154 - 158?

Any other recommendations and advice is greatly apprieciated as none of my friends are into snowboarding…..(skateboarding =o i like to think ive moved to a better level =D

Hey Tomo,

Thanks for using the site. So I’m going to be blunt; your feet are reasonably big so you’re going to need to buy a mid-wide or wide board. I’ve shortlisted a few boards that I think might fit the bill.

With regards to size I’d probably go for something in-between 157 and 159, I wouldn’t go any smaller. I’m 5’ 8” and a little lighter and I’ve always ridden between a 56 and 58. I realise you’re probably on a budget so I’ll list the cheaper boards first:

Apo Mtd 158w
K2 Podium 158w
Atomic Vantage 158

If you don’t mind spending a little more money and buying a board that you’ll never outgrow (ability-wise) have a look at these boards on the site:

k2 Darkstar 157w
Ride Machete 157w
Stepchild Corporate 158.5w
Head Team I 158mw
Artec Phenomenon 159

I’ve chosen these boards because they’re not too stiff laterally or longitudinally, they’re surprisingly stable, slightly wider and will help you progress quickly.
