Hi,

I used to ski when I was younger and a couple of years ago I tried snowboarding for a week and loved it. I consider myself as a fast learner, went down blues with no problem and even hit a couple of kickers.
I’m from Argentina, and I ski in Bariloche, where the usual conditions are kind of icy. But in a couple of weeks I’m going to Colorado and wanted to get my own gear for future trips.

I’m 5’11, 200 lbs, size 9.5. I’ve read different reviews and have some boards in mind, but I cannot decide the main issue: Camber o hybrid?

I’ve checked out the Ride Berzerker 161 (or 164?); Never Summer SL 161 (or 164?); Nitro Blacklight 163; Burton Process 162…

I want an all mountain board that I can grow into.  Is it harder to move of from Beginner to Intermediate in a hybrid?

Thanks for this great website, it has a lot of useful information and covers a wide range of topics.

Lipuro.

Hey Lipuro,
thanks for the praise for our website, always appreciated!

The NS SL as well as the Nitro Blacklight are quite stiff boards! Without a question, they are really great allmountain rides but for a beginner they really might be a little too stiff.
I’m not too sure about the Berzerker but I guess it’s in about the same league as the SL and the BL.

Burton’s Process on the other hand is more of an allmountain freestyle ride. It does have a totally different flex pattern compared to the other boards you’ve mentioned, meaning it will be much more easy to handle.

You might want to check out boards with zerocamber like the K2 Slayblade or the Amplid Dopamine. Both great allmountain rides but not too stiff due to the flatline camber. Other than that, you might want to have a look at the Rossi Angus or the One Mag for Magnetraction edges providing better edgehold especially on icy terrain.

Hope this helped a little, cheers Tobi

What about the Lowpro profile? Like the Ride Antic or Manic?
Anybody’s tried it?
