I’m thinking about getting a new board and am having a difficult time deciding between these three.

Hero 2010 LTD ($337)
Hero 2012 ($450)
Joystick 2012 ($500)

Is there a huge difference between the 3 and is the price difference worth it?
I’m thinking of mainly riding the mountain rather than hitting the park.
Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated, thanks.

My b/f looked at both of these a couple of seasons back. From what I remember, the Hero was too soft to buy as a pure all-mountain board, and he plumped for the Joystick, which he had in his quiver for a season. There was no huge problems with edge hold, but he did say it would feel squirly on hardpack - probably as a result of the full rocker.

If you want an all mountain board and you’re sticking with Burton, maybe try something with Flying V. If you’re beginner - intermediate the Process is a good place to start, otherwise the Custom is a popular choice. There are also lots of choice in full camber too, which I personally prefer for on-piste riding. It allows me to power in and out of my carves without worrying about wash out.

If you’re interested in other brands, maybe try a K2 Slayblade, or have a look at the Never Summer SL, which people have been raving about this year.
