Hi! I’ve just ordered a rossignol angus 2012 158cm wide model, and having irritating thoughts of wether I should have ordered the longer one, 161w :-S… my stats are: Length: 190cm, weight:ca 83kg, boot size:46 or 12 in us..
I want to have a stable yet controllable board for high speed carving, some pow off piste, hitting small to medium sizes jumps and doing some beginner rails and boxes sort of. I have ridden a Burton supermodel, freerider board from 98, and I think it is seriously time to take a step into a more fun and versatile board, and of course, a never one! I am 25 years old, from Sweden.. Ridden since I was like 12 but never had the guts to really jib.. And I want to learn some of it, without having a totally different riding experience from my old trusty steed ;-)
Have I made a good choice of board? Will the Length be okay for me? I am very thankful for some advice! Cheers fellow boarders!

You’ll be absolutely fine on the 158w. I compared my Angus 157 to a 155 twin I’ve just bought and it was about 4cm longer so Rossignol boards tend to be a bit longer than other boards of the same length. Also I rode my 155 twin in pow a couple of days ago and it was really hard work, in comparison the Angus was a floaty dream, bouncy and effortless in pow so you don’t have to worry about the length for float in deep snow, the Angus will work fine even at 158… even though I suspect the true length is more like 160cm.

Thank you very much for easing my fears! It seems like I made a good choice of board :)
Also, I’m thinking of getting rid of my old Flow FL5- (2001 yearmodel) binding in favour for something never. I really like the easy of entry the binding provides!
I have looked at Flow NXT-AT or the M9 binding. Is one of these a good choice for my style of riding? I want a medium stiff binding to give me enough support for pretty high speeds as well as give me some amount of softness when landing jumps or tricking. What do you think?
Thanks again for you helpful answer!

I’m not really the right person to talk about Flows. I haven’t ridden them for the last 5 years and so my opinion on them is a little outdated.
For fast entry bindings I’m more of a fan of the SP United system which uses starndard straps but a rear entry pull-up highback.
I’d also recommend Head and Amplid bindings (both pretty much identical) which use the Auto Open system which means you can just step into the binding and tighten them stood up. The Head NX7 and Amplid Balance C2.0 are the firmer bindings in their ranges. If you were into strap bindings but wanted a faster entry then these would be my suggestions but if you want super fast kick-in access then it’s Flows, SP, GNU (SP in disguise) or APO Expresso.
