After having my shoulder rebuilt a couple years ago i am just getting back into snowboarding. Due to the surgery, I am changing my focus from park to a more all mountain, back country approach. Its time for an upgrade and I am getting very frustrated changing my mind every two days on which board would satisfy me.

I would say I am at an intermidiate level and on the rise. I do as much back country as i can, usually just hiking out from resorts, cat skiing this season if things come together. A typical day of riding for me would be bowls, chutes, tight tree runs, steep runs, little bit of switch riding and hitting smaller drops and kickers only in the back country.

I am very interest in the hybrid cambers and really like the concept capita is applying to there boards. Ive been trying to decied from the following
1) Capita Black snowboard of death
2) Charlie Slasher
3) Never Summer raptor
4) Libtech Skunk Ape
5) libtech travis rice
6) K2 Turbo dream
7) Salamons Mans board

Would a directional twin be my best bet?
I am about 215pounds 6 feet
Any advice or suggestions is welcome

I am really digging Capita as well.  Love the FK tech and they always have no pears when it comes to graphics.

I think given your background the BSOD would be more versatile then the Charlie, you’ll be able to hit more stuff switch.

I like all those boards lol, not much help.  But if I could only pick one hands down the Turbo Dream.  Demo’d it last year, super sick board.

I’ve got this years BSOD in a 162, but it hasn’t seen any proper snow - only been in snowdomes - but I love it. It’s quick, snappy and edge to edge movement is ridiculously quick.

Oh, and it’s light. Very very light for a wood board. Stick some Burton Diodes, Union Contact Pro/SL’s on it, and you won’t feel it most of the time!

There’s been a lot of positive reviews for the 2011 and 2012 models - no change apart from the graphics AFAIK - and people seem stoked on their boards.

While I’ve not tried it, the reviews and the feeling of the BSOD may be replicated by something like Burton’s Custom X or Lib’s TR models; hard charging, hard carving boards that deal with ice as well as they do with powder. They all seem to be the do it all quiver killers, at home in the park, between trees or bombing down groomed runs.

BUT, if you’re in a proper back country focus, have you thought about splitboarding?  Lib Tech do a TR Pro split out of the box but you’d need the bindings, crampons, poles, skins etc. That lot would set you back a lot of cash, but it could be interesting, especially if you’re looking into time away from resorts.

As recommended to me, before you go deep into BC, get proper avalanche training and get a guide to take you out the first few times.
