I’m 40,  been snowboarding since 1992.  I’m about 205 lbs and I’m 5’11 and wear size 10 shoes.  I have an old Burton Custom from 2000.  I like to just ride, do jumps and hit the park as well.  I’d love advice on good boards for me.  I’d be willing to spend a bit more for a nice durable board.  I’ve had a preference for Burton boards but definately willing to look at others.  I’d love some advice since it’s been a long time since I’ve purchased a board.

I’d also appreciate advice on bindings/boots.  I have step in bindings from Burton,  I like them alright.  However, on steeper terrain I feel like my toes get jammed to the from of my boots a lot.  At times can be pretty uncomfortable.  I like the ease of the setps in though.  If anyone knows of a more contemterary version of these type bindings that are also durable I’d really like to learn more about them.  Thanks in advance for any advice.  Ride hard and ride free!

Ohh… first thing you want to do is get rid of the Burton step-ins… I remeber those things, my friend had a pair and they went soft and baggy within a matter of weeks… so nearly 12 years on and your must be like slippers. Is that a size 10 US?

Board wize, it sounds like you’re looking for a medium flexing directional twin. Go on our “Board Selecta” and click

Riding Terrain: Par & Freeride
Board Shape: Directional twin or Directional
Cost: I’d select medium but you can select High if you have some money to spend.

If any of your boards catch your fancy, list them on here and I can try and talk you through the positives and negatives of each deck.

Although I don’t own them, Burton Cartels are brilliant bindings. Had the opportunity to demo them for a while and they are a step up from my old Burton Missions and a different feeling to my Union Contact Pro’s.

If you’re after a Burton board, and get one with the channel, then Burton Cartel EST’s should be a great combo.

But, if you’re insistent on step-ins, then Flow seem to get huge support and loyalty/dedication from those who use them.
