Rad Air have been around for years, but for the last 10 years they’ve been under the radar, but 2009/10 is the season for Rad Air to explode on the big mountain scene. Owner Harry Gunz has been quietly taking the design input from a list of pros that would make Burton jealous! Freeride legends Flo Orley and Ralph Castleberg head up the RnD team backed up by AK legends Dani Kiwi Meier, the madder than box of frogs Shawn Farmer (if you don’t know this guy watch some of the early TB movies), and of course early 90s halfpipe legend (and one of Terje Haakonsen biggest influences through his early years) Reto Lamm.  For the 2009/10 season the Tanker range has been rockered for an even more effortless long board experience. If snowboarding for you is about flowing through big mountain lines in head high powder, the Tanker is the snowboard for you.

Manufacturer's Description:

Minimalist precision. Linear purity. Advanced Engineering. Twenty years of freeriding technology defined and redesigned to set a new industry standard: The RR Rocker Convex camber base, refined for unprecedented powder flow and precision edge control.

Turning tradition on its head by embedding two decades of free riding technology into base templates delivers yet another industry first – Rad Air’s entire free ride collection has binned the outdated camber concept and has redesigned a base rocker that delivers unprecedented powder flow and precision edge control.
RAD AIR is the only company in the World that offers a full six board quiver, ranging from 167cm through to 200cm. The entire 09-10 Rad Air Tanker Collection, including its Limited Edition 200 Silver Tanker, is designed with Convex ‘RR Rocker’ Camber!

The unique base profile is the ultimate form of power transmission and functions in a similar way as the ergonomic shape of a dolphin, a Surfboard or a speed boat. The results are flawless precision forward motion, reduced friction and unprecedented edge to edge flow.  Rad Air’s exclusive ‘RR Rocker’ Convex Camber Base Technology will change your experience of Snow surfing forever.

RAD AIR is designed and endorsed by Pros and Legends in freeriding including: Xtreme Freeride Champion Flo Orley, “Chinese Downhill” Champion Ralph Castelberg   and Legend Freeriders Shawn Farmer and Dani Kiwi Meier.

Skiers and snowboarders love lots of freshly fallen ****?

Brian on January 30, 2012 at 08:01 PM

I just got back from my first weekend with my new tanker 172. All I can say is I love this board. the first day was hardpack in the morning and the tanker really held an edge. It started snowing around noon and kept up all weekend. Saturday afternoon was a mix of fresh powder on icy hardback but for the tanker it ws no problem. Sunday I awoke to a couple feet of fresh powder and rode virgin 2-3 foot depths until my legs gave out. Wow what a board. Just ate up everything. Even when the runs had moguled up the tanker blew threw anything and everthing.I loved sailing past wallowed out boarders who kept asking what I was riding!  I’ve been boarding since 1986 and this board really did take me back, reminding of those first snow suffing days. thanks to the guys at Rad Air for relly making a sweet board, I highly recomend it to anyone.

P.S. This is the first board that has ever driven me to come and post a review, I’m that stoked
