Lib Tech Lando Phoenix BTX - 2010

/images/brands/libtech/logo/libtech_logo.gif

Without being too stiff to freestyle, the Lando Phoenix powers through all snow types and floats like a butterfly in pow. Agile off kickers and forgiving on landings, the Lando is perfect for intermediate to advanced riders looking for a board to ride everything on the mountain.

Manufacturer's Description:

AK Power free-styler and longtime Phoenix Series rider Mark Landvik worked with Jamie Lynn again to create two special Banana Lando models. Jamie did some beautiful art designed to look especially nice when doing cranked powder methods. Look for Lando doing a few in next year’s Standard film Black Winter.

Snowboard Review:

Mr Landvik is an insanely talented big mountain freerider and freestyler with a death wish. When you get on his board, you can understand why! I took out the 157W which wasn’t a bad choice even though my boots are only a UK8 /US9, make sure you check your boots on the standard Lando. My first task of the afternoon was to navigate a slushy mogul field the Lando Phoenix bounced energetically between carves and felt amazingly fun pumping the bumps and trying to clear the gaps between the moguls. The rocker profile between the bindings helps reduce the risk of catching an edge and added to the Magnetraction creates a foot steering feel. Before and after the inserts the tail and nose have a flat profile so when you’re charging through chop the nose has little problem cutting through and minimising chatter and on steep landings the tail will snap you back into position. I didn’t hit any park jumps on the Landvik but flying off natural lips and transitions was a joy. In my opinion, looking at the way Mark Landvik rides is a good way of working out if the board is right for you. Burley enough to power though variable snow conditions without concern, a rocker shape for improved powder float, and enough playfulness to throw down super styled frontside 360s off a 30ft cliff drop. More suited to the riders with experience and a powerful riding style, but a rider of any ability will enjoy this board. The Lando comes in a 157W and 160, the 160 has been slightly stiffened up for big mountain descents.
