Rossignol JDub MagTek - 2011

/images/brands/rossignol/logo/rossignol_logo.gif

Much like the Rossignol One, the Rossignol JDub has had a complete transformation. Since its conception the JDub has been a heavily cambered, super stiff rocket-ship, designed for carving hard on the sketchiest ice and scaling the steepest pipe walls. The JDub still does this job, but the Freestyle Amptek has made it less twitchy and sooo much more playful. Our jib ninja Mikee C took the JDub for a spin and ended-up rating it the best board he tested all week… praise indeed from someone who would have taken last years JDub for a lap of the park and had a heart attack. It’s different, but you’ll love it.

Manufacturer's Description:

We can’t seriously predict the future, so we invented it.
The new Jdub MagTek is the quintessential all mountain snowboard: a tapestry of killer performance and art infused with today’s most award winning camber and edge stories. Magne-Traction’s sinuous edges, AmpTek All Mountain’s (pat) crescent tips, carbon and Kevlar fibers perfectly balanced with our Dual Torsion Box, the 2010 Jdub MagTek feels like the million dollar man with a trillion dollar plan.

2011 Rossignol JDub MagTek Video Snowboard Review

Well well well well well…..I’m not quite sure where to start with this little beast. And I say ‘Little’ because it was a 154 and gave me the impression it was a bit of a park grom’s board. Or at least that was the market Rossignol was trying to reach out to with the funky graphics. I really didn’t know what to expect from this board, even though I’d heard so many good things about Rossignol and how they make awesome boards. An understated brand amongst a huge list of leading snowboard brands if you like. Once I’d strapped in and busted out a couple of nose jams and ollied around, I had a good feeling that the JDub was going to be special. Then after just 3 turns I was in love with it! I never thought I’d ride a Rossignol board and experience the enjoyment I got from it and more importantly the view point I have of Rossy now.

The ‘Magtek’ (Magna traction/normal camber between feet/freestyle rocker on nose & tail) worked a treat and it was the 1st time I’d experienced a ride like this. Boy did I have fun on the J Dub! As the last board I tested over the week, I got to spend a bit more time on it and got to take it through all conditions and terrain. And I have to say, I don’t think I’ve ever ridden a board quite like it! This bad boy just let rain on everything! Down the home straight (a nice steep run) where you have to keep your speed up (no speed checks!), no other board I tested felt as good or stable as the JDub and the confidence this board gives you because of how well it rides is quite unexplainable. The board turned in an instant and pop was of the international Pringles scale. You really do have to ride it to experience just how damn good this hottie is! Defo my favourite board for 2010/2011! Rossignol, I salute you!

Rgd this review I wanna know what you ppl think about BRT Vapor, BRT Custom ICS V-Rocker. The “epic” word cant be assigned so easy. More docu pls.

Custom V Rocker - Playfull and floaty but a bit slippy on hardpack and not very damp for hard charging on crud and icy reformed groomers.

Burton Vapor - I haven’t ridden the Vapor but if it performs anywhere near as good as the Custom X then it’s going to blow minds. Tom tested it last year and the year before I think and he was always really positive about it.

I own a JDUB from 2006/07 the John Jackson version with the Tuxedo on the topsheet. It’s damp, smashes through any snow condition it encounters, and has insane pop and edge hold. In powder it’s not very fun, the flex is so stiff and the shape is not directional enough to offer any assistance with float. However with the addition of early rise tips the JDub is now more playful and floats better too.

i am thinking about buying this and is a bit unsure how it will perform.  was the 2010 -2011 totally overhauled?

I ride NS EVO and Palmer Honeycomb currently and want to get a new board that will do it all!  all jumps (180 and hopefully 360), switch, grooms, and charging down the mtn.

ALso what size should a 5’11” 150lbs size 8 feet be buying the 154 or 158 ? Ross website is 154 = 150lbs<          158 = 110-165lbs

i am thinking the 158 would be too much board for me since the review said its a rather stiff board.
