Endeavor High5 Series - 2013

As with the last three seasons this year’s Endeavor High5 Series gets high caliber artwork from one of Snowboard-Review’s favourite artists Mr Derek Stenning. Strip back the killer graphics and underneath is a highly tuned monster V8 of a snowboard. Not just cambered but Super Cambered (yep that’s 1.5cms of camber) with Basalt fiberglass and more Carbon than a Chinese coal-fired power station the High5 is built for pop. The longer effective edge, created by introducing flat kicks, will please those that like to dig trenches in corduroy, hit huge tabletops and take more speed than anyone else into ice pipe transitions. This is a board for expert riders only who want a snowboard that delivers on firm to hard snow condition.

Manufacturer's Description:

Super Camber Champion

Flat kicks, double carbon beams, phantom woodcore, super camber, rubber sidewall inlays and basalt glass…the High 5 is a beast just waiting to be unleashed. Hands down the most aggressive performance board in the Endeavor line, this board is loaded with Pop that demands respect. Snap from edge to edge at lightning speed, blast off park hits with aggression and even float pow with ease. There’s no doubt about it, the High 5 is a serious freestyle machine

Super Camber w/ Flat Kicked Nose and Tail: Increasing the benefits of a cambered board, the super camber with flat kicks rides like a longer snowboard for the size. Because of the quick radius to flat on the nose and tail, the effective edge runs further than a traditional snowboard. This means the rider can drop 2cm in length and still have the same control. 15mm of super camber means an unbelievable amount of stored energy just waiting to be released.

Rubber Sidewall Inlays: Designed to take impact from rails or other objects, the rubber sidewall inlay works as a bumper to prevent sidewall cracks and also works to dampen vibrations on hard snow under foot where high-frequency vibrations can cause leg fatigue.

Basalt Fiberglass: An eco-alternative, Basalt is a premium aerospace material made from molten basalt and declassified by the military in 1995. An unparalleled strength-to-weight ratio gives our premium freestyle boards added performance, elasticity, and durability.

2013 Endeavor High5 Series Video Snowboard Review

The camber this board was created with, combined with its basalt construction gives it more pop than Simon Cowell’s wet dream. It’s Endeavor’s most aggressive freestyle machine that will do you proud if you like boosting off big booters and hammering around the groomers. It isn’t for beginners or intermediates as it’ll eat you alive if you put even a toe out of line and with its less than forgiving demeanour it’s not for the light hearted.

The 7200 sintered base puts the Millennium Falcon’s Hyper Drive to shame and the graphics by Derik Stenning are sure to catch the eye of that blonde cheerleader you’ve been after for the last two years, as usual Derek has done a stunning job.

If you like jibbing around and looking for those fun natural hits this probably isn’t the one for you as it’s stiffer than an oak aged Scottish single malt. The striking features for me were the rock solid carves with edges I’d put my life in the hands of and the powerful ollies the pop provided. The severe sidecut also meant initiating turns and locking into to carves was an absolute joy although manuals and presses were a distant memory.

The High5 was nicely rounded off with rubber shock absorbers under the bindings giving a smooth ride that took the shock out of hard-pack landings.

Highlights:
Superfast base
Responsive sidecut
Crazy pop from ollies and return from carves
The usual quality artwork we expect from Derek Stenning

Letdowns:
As playful as a Rattlesnake
