Bataleon Goliath - 2011

The Bataleon Goliath isn’t the fastest board edge-to-edge, but Bataleon’s Triple Base Technology makes the Goliath an incredibly stable and catch free platform to launch big kicker tricks from. No need to worry about catching your toes or heels on big icy jumps TBT keeps your edges free from harm and makes off centre landings far more forgiving than your usual cambered all mountain freestyle snowboard. In its element when ridden on kickers where that camber pop pays dividends.

Manufacturer's Description:

Snowboarding can mean different strokes for different folks, but all agree that this board is a true do-it-all shred machine. Whether you are just hitting some jibs, lapping the park, dropping into your favorite backcountry line or laying down the meanest carves on your way to the lift, it’s all good ...very good actually. This isn’t one of those boards that will take you for a ride. She will treat you well and be submissive and obedient to your demands.

2011 Bataleon Goliath Video Snowboard Review

The Bataleon Goliath has definitely been one of the most popular Bataleon decks over the past couple of seasons and after riding it it’s easy to see why so many people chose the Goliath, it’s a classic all-mountain freestyle deck. This seasons Goliath comes with Bataleon’s Freestyle triple base technology which is a slightly mellower version of the original triple base technology.

Having never ridden a board with triple base I really didn’t know what to expect, I’d heard rumours that they were a bit unresponsive and washed out on turns. So, how did it ride? On the piste I felt as though I couldn’t put as much energy into toeside and heelside carves, but when I relaxed and didn’t shift my weight along the board quite as much the board seemed to carve fairly well, but not as aggressively or responsive as a normal cambered or hybrid rocker deck with the same torsional or longitudinal rigidity. In the park the Goliath was good fun; the triple base technology made carving up kickers, to spin backside and frontside, a far more relaxed process. The triple base also made rails and icy run-ins less catchy……and to my surprise landings weren’t compromised.

All-in-all the Goliath is a strong all-mountain freestyle deck. The only thing that I found strange about this board was the triple base technology when carving but If you don’t mind not dragging your hand on the snow when you carve then this could be the perfect park/all-mountian board for you. If you like hitting bigger kickers but want the added security and peace-of-mind that the Goliath gives you when setting-up and carving into the take-off then look no further.
