Atomic Alibi - 2010

Alibi reviewed by the Snowboard Review team.

Summary:

Explosive in the Pipe, unfaultering contol and pop of big booters and impressive hold through carves. The Alibi is an all-mountain freestyle weapon that sits with the best boards on the market. Atomic should be charging twice the price for the Alibi!

Manufacturer's Description:

Understated domination. One of the most fun boards of all time to ride, period! The Kinetic core keeps it fun to ride while the D4 and Twin Prog sidecut make it super responsive in freestyle and other highspeed situations.

Review of Atomic Alibi:

With a number of Transworld good wood awards and countless other commendations over the years, I was expecting a lot from the Alibi. Believe me, the Alibi more than lives up to the hype. Effortless transition between edges, impressive hold through long high-speed and steep controlled carves. In the Pipe the Alibi held its speed very impressively through the flat bottom and transitions, potentially this board can send you into orbit out the top of the pipe. When you leave the coping you’ll really appreciate the lightness of the Alibi and landing back in the lip, the poppy tail and slightly softer nose place you down ready to pump for the next wall. With the Nomex honey comb inserts at the nose and tail I found initiating spins was easy despite the length of the board I was riding. Despite having an affordable price tag, the Atomic Alibi is in the same class as the Amplid Hi-Def and Burton Vapor, but offers a slightly more forgiving alternative. Suitable for confident intermediates through to the worlds best pipe and all-mountain freestyle riders.

I’m a big guy. 6’6” 230.  I have only had wide boards, and have been riding for 9 years. I can tell you that this board has provided the most fun of all my rides.  I have ridden the salomon w4 and Never Summer Legacy in the past.  Both of those boards went really fast, but were Cadillacs.  Great on the groomers and in the deeps, but not very quick in the trees.  The Alibi is a machine!!!.  It is super responsive when you need it to be (which is always), smooth edge-to-edge transitions and I can go REALLY fast on this thing without any sketchiness.  Most importantly.  It’s FUN,  I don’t do a lot in the air, but I have found myself jumping of cornices and getting some air coming back on the trail from the trees, and have not flt a bit unnerved.

Overall.  This is the best ride I’ve found for big guys who need wide boards.  It’s also bombproof.  nuff said
