For those who like their twin shaped jib boards soft as a sponge, it doesn’t get much softer than the Trickstick, think about it and you’ll be in a press. Where the Trickstick really kills the competition is the completely customisable Scratch-off topsheet and cool clip tips which can be cut down with hacksaw to create your ultimate jib shape.

2012 Rossignol Trickstick Video Snowboard Review

Having tested a Rossignol board (J-dub) at last years test for the first time in my 5 and half years of being a snowboarder and being blown away by its performance, I was super stoked when the Trickstick was on my list of boards to test this year. I was definitely looking forward to it.

One of the things I loved the most about this board was the customization element; you can scratch off the matte top sheet and reveal as much or as little of what lies beneath! After all, amongst everything else, snowboarding is all about having fun and individual expression so these are the things that I find interesting. To add to that nice little feature, you can also cut off some of the nose & tail to create a customized shape and size to suit your preference – genius!

The Trickstick is a true twin with the autoturn ‘Amp Tec’ rocker that makes the board easier to manoeuvre – an extremely fun board for jibbing all over the mountain on. The bouncy nose & tail provides the board with generous amounts of pop for ollies and nollies, which is always a nice bonus, but I did find that if I landed on them with my weight in the backseat they did tend to wash out. Additionally, the Rossi Trickstick is a very entertaining and fun jib board, but for me the stability just wasn’t there at high speed and on sketchy snow… this is not an all-mountain snowboard, but that’s what makes it such fun on the jibs. The softer waist provides extra control on boxes and rails and meant presses and tweaks were second nature. Overall softer flex makes the Trickstick ideal to progress on for intermediate freestyle riders but I think this board would be a lot of fun for pro level riders too, and without a doubt the Trickstick is a perfect board for indoor jib monkeys!

Highlights:
True twin with AmpTek
Customizable top sheet and tips
Easy Tweaks and presses

Let-downs:
Extruded base was dry and slow
The tips are too flexible to set-down tail heavy landings

I purchased the Rossignol Trickstick Amptek in the 2012 summer. Im looking forward to taking the board to the mountains. The 2013 Trickstick CYT Amptek just came out in July, but I think the graphics on my snowboard are twice as good. Also the technology and the structure of the board is IDENTICAL.  I got the Rossignol Cage V2 bindings with the board. The two look so great together. It will for sure turn some heads on the mountains. Buy this package!!!!!!!!!!
