looking into getting a new board after riding the one I owned for my whole riding career of 15 years.  I’m about to do my first season of full on back country.  I need a new board but obviously haven’t had to look at boards for quite some time.  And even when I purchased my first board someone else suggested it.  I’m about 175 lbs 5’ 7” .  I love to carve in the powder, ride in trees and occasionally zip down on fresh groomed runs..I am not a trickster but I do love popping on the odd hit here and there.  I’m so totally lost on all the technical conversations that I’ve read..and am needing some advice.

Sounds like a directional all-mountain freestyle or freeride board would suit you best. You should search the Board Selecta! on this site using that criteria.  Also take your weight and boot size into consideration when looking at specs on boards and match accordingly.  From there you can read descriptions and reviews on boards to get an idea of what you might like.  You should try and demo some boards if you can, that’s the best way to know for sure.
