So, I was a pretty clumsey rider up until last winter - I went a lot more than usual, and I got pretty good. This year I got a season pass to two hills, and I plan on going most Fridays and all Saturdays.
I mostly board moguls (both small and dep/big) as well as tree runs, where there are also moguls, tight spaces/turns to make, and some small jumps. I go off all small jumps I can find wherever on the hill. Although I never really ride park, I think I am going to try going this year and trying some small rails and bigger jumps. But, I mostly do the moguls and trees, where manuverability and responsive turning is a must.
I currently ride a Sims Absolute 163cm Wide (I am pretty sure it is wide, or maybe just a MidWide). I have freestyle burton bindings to fit my size 11 burton boots. But, this board felt waaaaay too long last year, and I couldn’t turn like I would like to be able to. I am a 5’11” male and I weight about 143lbs.
I am seriously interested in buying a Burton board - I love their products and gear - but I am really open to any brand at this point in time. Ideally, anything in the price range of up to $400 is what I am looking at… I will get last years model to make it cheaper too.
I have been looking at the following boards, as suggested by Burton.com:
Burton Sherlock – twin-like, twin, flying v
Burton Hero 155 - twin-like, twin, vrocker
Burton Joystick 154 – Twin-like, directional, vrocker
Burton Monkey Wrench 154 – twin-like, directional, camber
Burton Aftermath 152 – twin-like, directional, camber
Really, in my head, it is a debate between the Hero and the Joystick (the vrocker’s), they seem like they would fit my needs. However, I would LOVE to hear what some more experienced boarders have to say about it. What are your thoughts? Any and all advise is much appreciated! Thanks!

I think the Hero is more close to what you want. Both park and all terain.

I do think the Hero looks like an excellent board for me. What is the big difference between the joystick and the hero though? What would I be sacrifising, if anything, by buying the hero over the joystick? Thank you.

Hero rides switch whereas joystick doesn’t? That is the big difference? Having that ability to ride switch would be really nice! Do they both float about equal in powder? Or is width a really big factor there?

It is not that one can and the other can’t.But is easier with the twin flex.As for the powder i think yes.Check Burton site the board finder for details on flex.
For your exact size of board you have to ask to the store or someone who can see you and help you.I am from europe and not good in your metric systemYou can put your mesurments on the Burton site and get an oponion about size.

I can definitely ask or email about a size, but it is nice to hear what style of board other boarders think is best for me. Thank you a ton!
