Hi! I’m looking to some new bindings now that they’re on sale. What should you take if you have to choose between Rome SDS 390 and Burton Cartel EST or Mission EST? My ridding level is intermediate and I want something responsive enough when I go off piste, but somelike forgiving when I go to park or do some flatting, etc. My board is a Rossignol Angus.

If your board is the Rossignol Angus, you need the Burton Cartel or Burton Mission not the EST version of those bindings.
The EST version fits the channel system on Burton boards.

OK, I though there would be any other difference between the normal and EST versions, but as far as I know they carry both normal and channel system baseplates, don’t they? Anyway, what model would you choose?

EST don’t actually use baseplates at all, they connect with lugs at the side of the binding.
A friend has just been around mine for 2 weeks riding the Rome 390s, he absolutely no issues, the straps looked comfy and they worked in the park and freeriding. Only thing I wasn’t so keen on with the 390s was the little rubber band that holds the ankle strap open for easy access when your foot is out of the binding.
Burton or Rome, you can’t really go wrong… unless you buy the EST bindings;)
Just to throw another option in there, I’ve been riding Drake supersports on my Angus all season. The bindings are solid, a mate who works at a shop that sells a lot of them told me he had had zero returns this season… they sell hundreds of them, I’ve been riding them for 100 days plus and there isn’t even wear on the teeth of the ladder straps. They are a nice combination with the Angus.

Hey! Thank you so much for the hint. I’ll take a look at that Drake ones. BTW Burton bindings have a group called “Restricted”, what is the difference with the “normals”?
