Hey Guys,
i just got home from riding my new Signal Omni.. it is a very nice Board!
Conditions in Zillertal Austria were ok but lots of ice and no pow at all :-(
Edgehold was absolutely perfect i had no problems at all all time perfect grip. i was hitting some Jumps and i had good pop landing was very comfy..riding switch was the same like normal.. i didnt really realized that i was riding a rocker board cause the camber in the middle makes it ride like any other camber board, what i really liked. buttering down the slopes was pretty cool its soft in tip and tail first try was a faceplant :-( but after some tries i had no problems at all. so too summarize i had not good conditions but i had fun trying this board but im not hyped about it.. thats why im thinking of selling it and getting the YES 156.5
So now my Question:
Omni vs. YES 156.5???
Some Specs of myself:
Height: 6.2 (190cm)
Weight: 180lbs (82kg)
Shoesize: 11,5 (44,5) (fitted perfect on the Omni no Drag)
10% Park
50% Backcountry
40% Normal Slopes
Want a Freestyle All Mountain Board. Decission between Yes and Omni please..

Hi Hircus,
Glad the Zillertal was fun, I love Mayrhofen it’s awsome… the best thing about Mayrhofen is it attracts all the snowboarders so on a powder day Zell am Ziller is completely empty! That place is a dream on a powder day!
Ok so the Omni and the Yes are pretty similar boards.. what was it that you didn’t like about the Omni?
I think you’re feet are going to be too big for the 156.5 and your weight and height are definitely too great, Romain and JP who ride the 156.5 are quite small chaps. I’d look at the Yes 159, the Rossignol Angus 157mW or the Nidecker Legacy 159XL… with a 26cm waist and exactly the same spec as the Yes boards (Yes boards are made in the Nidecker factory by Nidecker) this seams like the best option for you.. graphics are pretty cool too.

there is nothing that i didnt like about the omni but somehow i was missing something.. the bam the wooohooo i was just riding and didnt feel that much of difference i was hoping for from the rocker.
There is still one board that im alway thinking about.. Bataleon Goliath :-) have u had the opportunity to ride this board.. or what do u think of the tbt.. on their homepage the people are going crazy for these boards… almost sound that bataleon writes those post themselves ;-)

by the way the 156.5 is 158 cm… ?? thats what it says on the yes homepage.
Zillertal ist awesome!!!

The Yes boards have a slightly agressive rocker on them than the Signal boards, I think you’ll probably notice that when you’re buttering about. I still think as you’re into Freeriding more than freestyle that you’ll get more out of the Nidecker.. bit more freeride orientated. The thing abot hybrids is that you sacrafise a bit of rocker feel and a bit of camber pop and grip.. so it might well feel like it’s hitting neither.

confused :-)
the omni is nice and i had only 2 short days on it so i cant say that much about it maybe i just need more runs with it.. but i realy like offpiste riding like u already noticed but i also wanna have fun riding down normal slopes.. rails and jibbing isnt my business hitting jumps 180s 360s is fun and if i find a good spot i hit jumps..
but mainly i wanna fun board that is allmountain freestyle oreiented.
so now ur my man that decides for me :-)
Signal Omni - YES 158 - Bataleon Goliath 157mw - Nidecker Legacy
The TBT always sounds great to me can u tell me if its realy that cool..

Sure TBT is awsome! I found it really helped me with initiating backside spins… definitely good for progressing your freestyle riding and forgiving on landings. The Nidecker Legacy and Yes 159 have a medium flex, if you want to tone down the flex and get something a little bit softer and more playful then you could look at the Nidecker Blade which also has camrock.

so what would u recommend..?
Stay with the omnio or sell it and get another. should i get the tbt tech or better with the camrock tech?

I’d stick with the Omni until you can put your finger on what it is you’re not sure about. If you still feel funny about it, get along to some demo’s and try some different rocker varieties. I think you might regret selling the Omni to find out the Yes rides almost exactly the same.

Cheers Hircus!
Hopefully demo-ing some of Contracts 10/11 boards in Garmish or Zillertal the weekend before ISPO… should be sweet. Then it’s Flachauwinkl & Serfaus in March… got to love Austria.. best place on earth!
