Hi guys I am totally stoked in getting a blue ride spacecraft jacket, or would you say the jacket sucks and i should grab something else?
I am not completely sure about the ride sizing. I actually own a burton goretex shelter jacket in size M which fits perfectly but shouldnt be any smaller, I heard ride is a bit smaller than burton, right?
I am 180cm,65kg chest 90 hip 85
so I think I should be fine with a Large?!
Can anyone recommend me a shop still selling the jacket, I googled a lot and atm I just found one in switzerland which is about 100euros more expensive than the jacket was sold in germany.
Any help or assistance would be really appreciated!
PS: Sorry I think I used the wrong subforum for this thread..

It’s a nice jacket. A super functional, highly breathable and highly waterproof shell for layering up. If you are riding a lot of powder and hiking for lines then it’s just what you need. If you are just riding park and hitting sidecountry you might find it’s overkill. A jacket with 10k/10k breathability/waterproofness would do the job fine, and save you some money.
Yeah Switzerland is always expensive because they aren’t part of the EU and their currency the Swiss Franc is very strong. Check out Blue-Tomato.com they ship all over Europe and they have a small sale on outerwear at the minute. I didn’t see the Spacecraft Jacket but there are lots of nice jackets on the site.

Thanks for your answer Rich I will use the Jacket a lot so it won’t be an overkill. Do you still know any way to get it?
I am totally stoked on getting it and already spent hours trying to find it…I’m becoming deperate :(

I’ve serached everywhere for the jacket for you… absolutely no luck.
Have you seen the 686 Plexus Beta Jacket. It’s a very similar cut but with a asymetric zip, it’s available in yellow or black. Just as waterproof as the Ride Jacket.

thanks for your efforts but unfortunately I don’t like the colorways :(
what do you think about this jacket:

I think technically it’s maybe better than the spacecraft J and it seems to be super lightweight.Unfortunately it does not have such a nice pattern on it and I prefer the spacecraft design…do you know anything about ride sizing like I described in my first post? maybe the SJ fits?!
I think black isn’t the best color regarding safety :X

Haha for sure, but my jackets are White, Brown and Moss Green. If I get buried in an avalanche or lost in the trees, I don’t think the rescue services will have much luck finding me.
Yeah the Burton Jacket is nice, although I prefer it in the plain/single colorways but as you can see from my jacket colours I’m not the most adventurous when it comes to outerwear!

Don’t listen to him - I’ve seen him rocking a neon pink and yellow all in one from the eighties as recently as this season. He only puts on his new gear when there is a camera about. He’s quite well known about resort for it and always has a snake of people trailing him if there is a white out.

I will not accept this kind of slander from a man who only owns outerwear in either beige or black.
Day-glo my arse.

They’re all nice jackets. Did you manage to find somewhere that stocks the Spacecraft Jacket?
What colour snowboard pants (trousers- just to make sure there’s no confusion) have you got?

Yeah i managed to locate the jacket in two shops one in switzerland, the other one in the USA unfortunately both of them offer no discount. Usually i wear black pants:
Here a about 1 year old pic of me wearing my shelter Jacket in M. Since then my weight increased about 5kg - do you think I could go with the jacket in L(it’s not anymore available in M) and it would look good and be functional?

Cheers,
Flo

Hi Flo,
I think it is either the Spacecraft Jacket or your old jacket in a larger size with black pants. The Burton AK jacket is really nice, but it needs to be paired with some bright coloured trousers that match one of the colours around the bottom hem of the jacket, like a bright red pant. I just can’t see it working with a black pant.

because the spacecraft jacket is pretty expensive for what it offers and I fear the shelter jacket could have the same material problems like my old one had on sever places I thought of going with this jacket:
http://www.zimtstern.com/xenix.html @ 200€ (red pepper color way)
what do you think of it?

Yeah looks nice. Nice and simple but super tech fabric. THat’ll look nice with black pants and a white beanie.
You’ve definitely got an eye for the more expensive outerwear!

damn it it seems to be sold out in my size :( you have a recommendation for me where i could still get it?
Posted: 15 February 2011 09:34 PM
Hahaha oh gosh, that really sucks!
But dude seriously, maybe you are doing this the complicated way- can’t you just go to several (core) shops near you and look for some nice jackets there?
That way you could try them on, you know which sizes they have got,.. and if the worst case calls in you can still check the internet shops for that jacket.
