I’m 5’ 6” (167cm) and 155 lbs (70.5 kg.)
Currently I ride a really old Burton Motion 156cm.
I am looking to get a new board. I ride mostly with skiiers so I only go to the park once in a while. Therefore, I want a Free Ride board.
I can get an awesome deal on a 2009 K2 Zero 153cm. This board looks sick, but is it too short for me?
I was thinking that the short length will help me a lot by increasing maneuverability in the trees and moguls. Am I going to regret it when trying to bomb some blue runs though? (Unfortunately the majority of my riding is not in powder conditions so I don’t think that should be taken into account.)
I can get a similar deal on a 2009 Rossignol Jeremy Jones 158cm, by the way. The zero seems like a better board though. And the reviews on the Rossi was that it’s hard to maneuver.

Hi TheEZest,
I’ve just checked the weight limit on the 153 Zero and you’re right at the upper limit… I don’t think that it’d be a wise purchase. THinking abot the Jones 158 2009, that sounds like a bad choice too. If I’m thinking right, it’s a 20mm tapered stiff freeride deck designed to kill high speed decents and critical lines, i.e. it’s really not designed to be manouverable at slower speed in tigh trees.
Firstly I’d get the size right, if you want to freestyle then you should be looking at freestyle boards around 154 cm. If you want an all mountain deck then between 156 and 157 is a probably about right. All out freeriding you should be looking at around 160ish. Firstly think what terrain you’ll be riding then choose the type of board and then the length. I.e. a 153 all mountain deck like the Zero isn’t going to right… a 156 would be perfect!
Need any more advice just holla,
Rich

You saying skiers don’t hit up the park often? ;-)
