Okay, I live on the east coast so Im always dealing with hardpack. I want to be stable at high speeds because I have to keep up with my cousin who is a very confident skier. I want it to be somewhat forgiving off kickers since I don’t do them enough to land them on a less forgiving board, and I’d like some maneuverability for glades.

Summary:
Essentially I want a fast, all around stable board for speed and jumps that I don’t have to wrestle with to last in the glades. Here’s my list

K2 Slayblade- heard it can do it all, and is very fast and stable.

Ride Machete- it’s got the rocker, but is still stable at higher speeds. Won best of test

Never Summer Legacy-R- It does everything, but i dunno how it does hardpack.

Rossignol Angus- got 2nd in best of test. Huge fan of the amptek, and its only 399.

Nitro Blacklight- It’s reaaally fast, but I’m not sure how forgiving it is off jumps.

*Remember, I never do pow unless its some hidden patch in the glades.

*Added* Also, what’s your opinions on the Slayblade vs the Legacy-R sine those are my top two choices.

Hey Anton,

If I was you I’d definitely consider the following boards:

1) Yes 156.5 - It has the Nidecker Camrock which is similar to Amptek but this board also has Ultragrip which is the Nidecker equivalent of magnetraction…....amazing in icy conditions.

2) K2 Slayblade - Very stable, easy to ride and fairly forgiving on landings.

3) Head Team I - A great board that pretty-much excels everywhere. It has intelligent fibres in it that relax when you’re riding slower and over smoother groomed terrain (i.e the park and deep powder) but stiffen and make the board more rigid when you’re riding quickly over bumpy or variable terrain…..this is all due to increased vibrations through the board. It’s a very stable and light board that excells everywhere.

Hope this helps a little.

Tom

Yeah it does a lot actually. Since the post I narrowed it down to the Slayblade and the Never Summer Legacy R.
The Legacy R has that speed influenced dampening system as well, and its also got the rocker/camber set up. I’ll check out the Yes and the Head Team now. I never heard about the Team, but the Yes has something ridiculous like 6000 sinter base or something.

Thanks, and if you know anything about the Legacy R that would be awesome since there isn’t a whole lot online, other than whoever has a Never Summer loves it with a die hard passion and says its beast.

Thanks again

Never Summer boards are a completely different entity to the boards Tom has listed. I rode the Evo-R and thought it was pretty powerfull and certainly had a firm flex.. I read on the Shay boarders site that she thought the EVO was soft and buttery, but either her calorie intake is on the high side or she’s got thighs like Serena Williams arms (only joking!) because it certainly isn’t ‘soft and buttery’, more like snappy and aggresive… well for a park deck anyhow. If powerfull and all-terrain capable is what you’re after then the Legacy will be dope… however, you could go for the Lib TRice with Magnetraction edges for extra grip on ice.. saying that, they’re a little on the pricey side. Wow I’ve got a real inner monolgue thing going on today. Good luck with the search!

Alright, yeah dude I’ll mainly be looking at the Legacy, T.Rice and the Head Team I, and will pass the YES this year since they havent made a midwide yet. But I’ve meaning to ask: It’s not like the Atomic Alibi fits with what I want to do, but I used the Hatchet a while back and I really like Atomic. Does the Alibi excel mainly in the park(pipe), or is it one of those freestyle mishaps where it turns out it can take all mountain too?
