I’m heading to gulmarg in india this season and am looking for advice on a snowboard need a serious powder board for over there and don’t mind spending a bit I have just done my first season,60 days, so I can defintly ride however not sure about what to get I’ve been riding a burton custom 157 and I’ve been leaning towards getting an endeavour next 2010 162cm I don’t want another burton as I’m over riding the “coca cola” of snowboards keen for all the advice I can get as I was given the burton custom by a friend so this will be my first ever purchase of a snowboard cheers in advance

There are some great all-mountain freestyle boards out there this season that will slay powder almost as well as freeride specific decks. If you go for a rocker shape, which I believe the Endeavor Next is, then you should be able to get away with 2 or 3cm shorter so around a 159 or 160. Rockers are proven to float better because the profile of the board means that the nose doesn’t sink. Below is a list of boards that are definitely worth having a look at on the website, I’ve thrown a couple of smaller brands in the mix too.
All-Mountain Freestyle decks:
Nitro Rook
K2 Believer
K2 Slayblade
Atomic Alibis
YES
Venture Helix
Contract CP77
All-mountain Freeride Boards:
K2 Turbo Dream
Volkl Cashew
Venture Zephyr
Lib Tech 1986 Snow Mullet
Nidecker Legacy
Rome Anthem SS

Hi Ronie,
Gulmarg in India!!! That place looks epic, saw it on a BBC TV programme a couple of years ago, you’re in for some serious pow pow. Just watch out for AK47s and land minds, Kashmir is a bit of a volatile place.
With regard to powder boards, are you looking for an all-out powder deck or something that you can freestyle on too? I’ve just bought a Rossignol Twilight 164 for riding powder, tapered shape, setback stance, pin tail and a nice long eliptical nose .... essentialy a fish based powder thoroughbred. However, I’ve got my 158 Rossi JDub for riding anything but the steepest and the deepest. Are you looking for a pow board to join a quiver of boards or one board to rule them all?

Very nice indeed…....have fun ripping that Himalayan pow pow. If you could get some photos for us to drop on the site that’d be sweet. Gulmarg is definitely a place of interest among our readers.
Glad to hear we helped,
Tom
