Not worth worrying about it really, it’s only 3cm.
The 156 is the right length for your weight, but at 171cm tall you could probably size down to the 153. I think if you are riding park 90% of the time the 153 would be better, but if you are riding everything on the mountain, the 156 is the right choice. To be honest it’s only an extra 1.5cm on the nose and on the tail.
The 156 is a good choice if you want to enjoy all elements of snowboarding from park to pipe to powder. And the Raygun is designed for all mountain riding.

Dear all, I’ve been having a look around and like to ask you a few things - about bindings. The cap-strap of the Burton Custom and the K2 Indy are different. One grabs your feet with one whole crap, and the K2 is diferent, well, is it very diferent or are mostly the same? About the back spoiler, any thingI should be aware of? And, what about the Union bindings? Is it a good brand? wich one do you recomend? for freeride/all mountain ;)
Thanks for your help

Yo Soho,
the ‘back spoiler’ is also called highback, just for your information. =)
The only important difference in straps (when talking about regular strap bindings and no fast step in or something) is that most of the newer bindings do have a front strap which can be used as toe- or cap-strap. A strap worn as toe-strap provides a slightly better fit in your bindings as your boot is pushed back against the highback. I still ride cap-strap, though- don’t ask me why!
I do not know about any functional difference in the look of the straps. It’s probably just a question of style/design..
UNION produces really decent bindings and their designs are great!
The one you should be opting for would be the Union Force or maybe Force SL if you like a stiffer highback and do have some extra $ to spend.
Cheers, Tobi

Hi there Tobi, (so highback, ok i’ll remember)
My doubt about the front straps is because they seems to me like the toe/cap-strap looks weeker than the toe-straps!
And the highback for the freeride must be higher than the freestyle’s, is it true?
Also, I’ve check the Union’s and is hard to find them on my town. Is easier for me find brands like NITRO, K2, BURTON or ROME - (Have you heard something about ROME bindings? I like the Targas!)
Well Tobi, thanks for your advices!

Hello again… er I suposse been forgoten!!! Well, never mind. I´m back again cause i´ve found here on my town a couple of Union Bindings - I was shocked they say “made in china”!!!!???
The price is ok and like to ask you wich suits me better (if does!): the DLX or the FLITE!? (just point you I´ll ride the K2 Raygun for free-ride). Also, I think I could find the ROME 390 too (last season I think)
...please, wich one of these three do u recommend?
Thank you guys! The bindings review was ok, also the video: Great job, great web… what about the stickers!? :)

Hey Soho… how could we forget you!
I’m afraid the majority of bindings are made in china. Even if they are assembles in a different country, the majority of components are made in china. The reason? Cheap labor, great manufacturing facilities aggresive pricing that other countries can’t really compete with.
I would buy the Rome 390s if I were you. The binding will offer more support than the Union Flite.

Hi Rich, this is where the story ends, he he he…
Thanks for your wise coments, and yes is a bit sad all the manufacters gone to Chine, there´s no more “original hand made” thing at all. The people who make bindings now, are making watches tomorrow.
Anyway, you advice me for the 390, cool, i like the bindings. When to a shop, asking for them and the sealer said “it´s ok but try this one instead”. I went to another shop and the guy said “- Forget Rome, try Union”. And the secong guy said “- No, no… you should get Burton” (it´s a burton shop sooooo!).
Making a long history short, everybody has a binding and an opinion (thank´s god) so I checked my board, checked my wallet (and checked my poor skills) and bought the Union Cadet DLX. I read is a good brand and for 140€ is the best binding I coul get (the ROME and the CARTEL are about 230€ - too much for my first gear!). Also, I couldn’t find in my town the 390 or the Targa and I didn´t want to buy them on the net (like to touch them! so).
Pls note I really consider your free advice, you are the only one who don’t want to sell me anything!!!
On my next post I’ll tell you how it rides, until them, thanks a lot!
Good luck.
