Hey X-Cross,

Nice easy question this one. My suggestions for stiff cambered boards that will rule on the boardercross are as follows.

Palmer Crown LE - A Premium board, but man this board smashes it! I’m 77kg and 5’8” I rode the 165, the longest length it comes in. The Crown was unbelievably stable and held an edge like no other. Quite expensive though.

Arbor A-Frame - Another expensive option, but this time it’s because it’s got loads of expensive veneer on the topsheet, not because it’s crammed full of Carbon. A little softer than the the Crown but not significantly, most riders would still consider it a plank. A nice board to take in the deep stuff too.

Head ICT - A board with fibres that react to being ridden hard. A high grade nano sintered base too. This board is a bit more versatile than the two above.

Rossignol One - This years One is a hardcarving cambered board with magnetraction edges and a 4.4k sintered base. Not an out and out boardercross board, but Xavier De le Rue rode one at the Olympics in the Boardercross and it’s about half the price of the others.

Nidecker Legend - I saw one of these in TSA Covent Garden. It can come with Ultra Grip, nideckers serated edge for uber grip, an 8800 grade sintered base (super fast), carbon and kevlar reinforcement to eliminate chatter and power you out of turns. THis board will rip in the boardercross and ride even better when it dumps. Alternatively you could look at the Nidecker Platinum.

Salomon Burner - I only missed out on riding this at the test this year because the guys at Salomon had forgotten to wax it, so I didn’t get to ride it. A classic freeride shape and spec that will suit the requirements of an aggressive boardercross rider or freerider.

Amplid UNW8 - Got to love Amplid boards. this is the top of the range. A narrow waiste for lightening quick adjustments and tons of reinforcement for pop. I’ve ridden the boards that Peter and the Amplid crew say are medium flex and those were animals. I’d expect this board up to work very well indeed on a boardercross course. You can take it in the pipe once you’ve smoked everyone on the boardercross course :-)

Volkl Coal - Last but by no means least, the Coal is a monster. Built for nailing it! The long sidecut might be a bit longer than you’re used to, but for going fast there aren’t many better. Check Toms review… you’ll get the gihst!

Hope that helps

Oh yeah the Bataleon Undisputed is a mega board for hardcarving and quick edge to edge response. It has Quadraxial glass with Carbon and Kevlar reinforcement so it’ll grip on gnarly rutted hardpack.
